This car is selling at the dealer auction tomorrow and the seller also has it listed for $11,200 buy it now. After some digging I found the car was sold a few months ago in Texas by one of the counties DA office as being a forfeiture car.

Buyer there paid $9,450

Found the forfeiture court case at:

Looks like this guy had over a dozen cars seized. The car is a bit rough with no cats, but pretty good mileage. Will take a looksee just for grins and giggles.

It's likely been tuned......(P0420 & P0430) DTC's turned off in the calibration. We have emissions testing here in DFW via OBD2 Monitors.....But rarely does the inspector do a visual of the catalyst's.

This would limit California for sure, Not sure about other states?

Even at the buy it now for $11,200 wouldn't be a bad deal if the car doesn't have any expensive issues. Not sure if the glove box is torn out of there or if it just comes apart. 05 is a much better year than 04 in the GTO for many reasons. The 05 GTO is just about the same as an 05 Corvette as far as engine and transmission are concerned. I would find a stock exhaust to put back on the car and that might get a little expensive. Extremely loud cars are not my cup of tea.

How much spending cash is associated with this Holden GTO cult?
I've seen only one on the road here 3-4 years ago.
Cool looking car.
With ZEE-ROW knowledge I'd assume it's only good for personal use or as the final piece of a GTO/Pontiac collection.

About two-three years ago I looked into a G8/GTO for a fun car/rebuild project. Discovered the amount of young people that wanted one of these Holden's was larger than the used supply. Prices were pretty darn high. Seemed the demand was for younger people who wanted to street race/ street show. I ended up moving on- the juice wasn't worth the squeeze because of the demand from young people.

The question i would ask- if you are flipping the GTO, are the potential pool of buyers (on a MACRO level), able to pay (finance) the money you would want to sell the GTO for?

I don't think banks finance 18 year old cars anyway. Car looked ok in person but the paint was faded in many places so add $1000 for paintwork to make it look nice. It started and ran good with a lumpy idle like it had a hot cam. It got bid to over $10,000 but didn't sell. Don't need it that much.

Head, cam and long tube headers were very common performance mods for these cars, but I would be on the lookout for past use of nitrous oxide. That kind of a power booster can have a major impact on longevity.
Definitely due to become a classic in short order.

There's a sweet black 06 GTO on www.bringatrailer.com right now. Looks pretty stock to me and no mods mentioned. Current owner since 2010, 6 speed, 59k miles, 6 days left on auction at $4500 now.
Last year of production.

I bought a new '04 and drove it daily for nine years. Even after all those Michigan winters, it was rust-free and the paint looked like new. In '13, I installed a Magnuson TVS1900 and it was garage queen/fun car until I sold it in '17 for a Hellcat. Have fond memories of it. Great car.

It was the best daily and long distance cruiser I've ever owned. I will say though that I don't think I'd trust them now as old as they are to drive all over the country. It was still a new car when I was doing that and was less than 10 years old when I sold it.
