Aluminum improved slightly this time around though it's still the dominant metal and that's not common for the Audi 4.2L V8. Given the improvement over a longer oil run and since all other wear was nice and low, we don't think this shows a serious problem. Silicon increased slightly, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to check the air filter for dirt. It could also be from a harmless sealer if this engine has been opened since last time. The TBN was fine at 2.2 and insolubles were low, so the oil filter was working well. Hopefully aluminum drops even more next time.
Car is not a DD since I use public transit but it does get driven 12 months a year. It saw a handful of autocrosses and 1/2 a track day on this OCI. I drive it pretty hard. It consumed 1qt in 5000 miles. 50/50 city and highway.
Every UOA I've had done shows the 'elevated' aluminum but nothing else ever looks out of line. Consumption is not increasing. See here for the Lubro-Moly 5w40 UOA: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v80/TheGSRGuy/audi/blackstone-july2010.jpg
Virgin TBN is 8.3, and virgin KV @ 100C is 13.32 so it only sheared about 5.5%! New oil that went in was the non-moto variety of 300V, but 5w30 instead.
