Hello,

Another UOA for you. An extended drain of M1 0w-40. it was installed at the dealer as a free change, so I cannot comment on the specs/age of it, though I assume it was new stock as of February 2006 when I did the previous change.

I did this one with 15400 miles on the oil, 32283 miles on the car. The car has been great, giving me well over 30 MPG, and being used more or less exclusively for 35 mile trips and longer, driven VERY gently. I changed the oil more or less at 0%, as it was the winter and tough to do.

I refilled with Amsoil SSO. Ill sample that one when the computer tells me it is at 50%. I have a large stock of schaeffer's 5w-40 that is good for MB 228.31 and .51 (low SAPS, long drain) and VW 502 and 505, FWIW. Ill likely keep the SSO to about 10% though...

Anyway, here is the latest (far left) as well as the older ones going to the right:

Great results. Hard to top that.

Fe has gone down substantially.

wearcheck. $12 per sample with TBN...

BTW, I routinely add a combination of LC20 and Schaeffer's #132.

Engine break in

Wow, great! Unfortunately our Saab is right about 25mpg combined, but I'd say 98% slow city driving, in traffic. Great sample though!

Is that a standard price? How do you order the analysis from them? Their website seems a bit confusing.

I call their NC service center, bobbi is the girl I order with.

THeir number is there someplace.

I may start using chevron next, as it is apparently $9-10 for the full workup!

Thanks. Do they send free test kits like Blackstone does?

The MB my father drives.

My commute is 9 miles, but I drive 70 miles about once a week, and we do mainly road trips... Probably 20k miles a year for me, and about the same for my wife - but she gets paid mileage.

Please define "routinely...."

every 1000 miles I add 2 oz of a 50:50 LC20:#132 mixture (a molabrew of old) to the oil.

By the end of the OCI, the oil was overfilled a bit on the stick, but it was less than a millimeter.

Good show. It's still a 40 grade!

You quoted the FF there, which was a 30wt. Yes, both UOAs Ive done on the M1 0w-40 show that theya re still 40wt oils. 11.4 on the last one is pushing it, IIR my viscosity charts correctly... 12.9 is decent. I dont know if 12.9 was obtained coming down (shearing) or oxidizing back up - I wish I had done an intermediate UOA on this oil...

I am on the SSO in there now!
