2004 40th Anniversary Edition 911, Mobilube PTX 75w90, Miles on Odometer 87,688, Miles on Oil 5587, 7 years in Transaxle

Not a lot of miles on this fill of Mobilube PTX 75w90 in 2004 40th AE 911 Transaxle last filled in 2018. UOA didn’t test for yellow metals (brass/bronze) unfortunately, but may be reflected in particle count?

Tear down and work done to replace synchros and other parts in 12/2013 by Porsche dealer due to hard shifting iirc. Regular street and highway miles on this fill. OM calls for 90k mile changes.

Drained and refilled with Mobilube PTX 75w90. The 996 is finicky about gear lube for easy shifting - so used the more expensive OEM recommended fill ($36 to $40 per quart at Suncoast Porsche Parts x3 qts).

Thanks for posting. the 40th Jahre is a nice car w/ the additional ~50hp...pic please.

After experimenting with a few I settled on Porsche Classic for the older P'cars' transaxles. In all my years of playing with cars, the 996/986 and 993 to a lesser extent, are the most sensitive to fluids.

There you go. From several years ago at Fontana AAA Speedway - California Festival of Speed - Porsche enthusiast event, and the most recent gear oil change.

Mobilube PTX and a Shell Spirax were factory fill according to OM. Don’t know if formulas have changed over time. But, it shifts nicely on the PTX. (Except one time at -40f in CO Rockies🤭).

And, I think it’s 345hp w/X51 Power Pkg (vs 315hp base) with other component changes from the base Carrera 996 of the time.

~50 over ours which I'd love!

Looking at the pic of yours and the later 911 in front is interesting. I had a spare rear grille that I painted satin black for the vintage look and always thought it would look great on a silver car...and I am usually not one for mods. Ours is Ocean Blue and I tucked the original away, but I'm liking the black grille for now.
