Hi
I bought this quad used. Its in mint condition
Previous owner did run it on trails etc but I am using it only for my Acreage so it will hardly run 10 or 15 kms max each year.
My option are two ( Both 10W40 )
1) Put Honda GN4 oil and change every year. It is semi synthetic. Pro - Little less expensive ; changing every year will have fresh oil in the sump over winter ( 6 month storage) Cons - Semi Synthetic
2) Put Amsoil Metric motorcycle oil. It is full synthetic ( its bit expensive but I am using it on my Zero turn mower's Kawasaki engine). If I use this then perhaps I can change oil every two years. Pro - Fully synthetic oil , oil change frequency 2 years Cons - Dirty oil will sit in sump over the winter 6 months

Thanks

Those aren't picky. I had one for years before getting my 400EX. I ran Rotella 15w40 or Honda GN4 and changed every year. I currently run mostly Valvoline 10w40 motorcycle oil in ATVs, either the blue bottle or the gray bottle synthetic in my Fourtrax for plowing snow. Either is a great oil.

Thanks jeepman
Do you think annual oil changes are required even if I will ride only 15 or 20 kms each year? Longevity of the engine is important to me. Can I put full synthetic and change every 2 years?

You definitely can, even with Rotella 15w40 which holds up well. I simply changed mine yearly because it was easy to remember and the oil/filters are cheap on Amazon.

HDEO with JASO MA/MA2 specification could be run in it, I have Rotella T6 in my Yamaha Raptor 660.

Walmart Supertech has a Full Synthetic 10w30 & 10w40 4-stroke ATV/motorcycle oil on the shelf as well.
