We just got this f150 running after 2 years. Changed the oil with National 5w-30 (calls for 5w-20)

130,770 miles 4.2 engine. Any reason to run the latest oil change a couple hundred miles, then change again? The oil that was in it while it sat was fairly amber.

Thanks for any advice.

You may see a little consumption since the rings may be a little sticky from having sat.
You may also see a little leaking from seals that have been sitting cold and without fresh oil hitting them for two years.
Both problems will take care of themselves with the return to regular use.

The rings are fine. Just drive it.

I install or rebuild boneyard shelf engines all the time. Sticky rings have never been a problem.

Don't worry about any engine mechanicals that rely on oil for lubrication. Unless there was a problem before, they will be fine.
I would be very watchful of the 4.2/V6 having leaking or seeping head gaskets.

What the heck is National 5W-30 ? One of those 7/11 oils ?

I let my F150 sit that long and there were enough bolts, nuts, and odd pieces of metal underneath it to build an Escort.

But they were, at least, well preserved in a nice big puddle of motor oil.

I think it's basically the dollar store house brand at Menards

2 winters ago my F-150 wouldn't shift out of last gear (overdrive). Come to find out - it was simply just a relay. It's an easy fix if that's the problem.
