Hello!
I recently acquired a 2000 Echo, got it cheap enough I didn't really bother getting it checked out... Figured a Toyota with 145k km (~90k miles) shouldn't really have any mechanical problems.
Main issues are it sat for 1-2 years, so I replaced the battery and it fired right up, yay!
Then I drove it.... tons of hesitation off the line, bucks its way up the rev range eventually getting some power.. but after driving enough to get the engine warmed up the oil pressure light comes on. Not only that, it sounds like a diesel it clacks so much... I really was getting worried it was going to throw a rod or something.
I just got an oilchange done on it so it is full of oil (checked a few extra times too)...
Is there a likely possibility that the oil pump has gummed up and not working properly due to it sitting for so long? Anyone know how much work it is to replace one of those?
I was thinking of putting a can of seafoam through it to see if that can loosen things up?
Thank you for any help you can provide...
