Ok Toyota experts... Need some help here...

A friend of mine has a 2000 Corolla with 150K KM (90K miles) and it's storing code P0171.

The car also has a slight hesitation when snapping the throttle both hard and lightly...

Car gets reasonable fuel economy. All the obvious things were checked. (PCV, Plugs, Wires, Fuel/Air Filters).

The car has quite the carbon buildup on the exhaust.

Car also burns about a quart of oil every 2K KM's (1.2K Miles)

Car passed emission test 1 year ago but almost failed on the CO. The NOX were non-existent, and the HC were low.

Car has excellent compression.

I'm thinking leaky injector, bad 02 sensor (even though that isn't the code), or MAF/MAP sensor (Don't know which this car has yet)

Looking for input from people familiar with Toyota's.

Cheers,

Steve

Drew,

I read this before... The MAF was cleaned by me and now I'm thinking it might be defective if not the 02 sensor. I didn't have the 02-Sensor ratchet socket with me to take it off and look at it to see if it was plugged with carbon before testing it...

Thanks...

That's what I'm thinking given the miles and the excess gas usage leaving a carbon ring on the tail pipe along with poor acceleration...
