That looks like standard Purolator construction there. Wavy pleats and look at the big gap between pleats next to the seam. Those are the ones that like to tear. The Hyundai filter has nice straight evenly spaced pleats, and these have 7500 miles (12000 km) on them, double what your Bosch has.
 
Yes the pleats weren't even next to the seam but no sign of tear at all...but silicone anti drain valve and lots of pleats material
And yes half the miles on it... but i never go past 6000km
For lots of miles i would go with fram XG9688 wich i cut too and it's very impressive!!!
And Yes the Hyundai filter is well constructed and not very expensive!
