Portland to Dayton, Ohio via Denver.

2,550 miles @ 68.9 mph average(37 hours total drive time) and gas mileage per tank (all on mid-grade) was as follows:

26.82 Portland to Caldwell
27.71 Caldwell to Evanston
28.90 Evanston to Cheyene
29.84 Cheyene to Colby
29.25 Colby to KC
30.88 KC to Effingham
30.58 Effingham to Dayton

From Dayton en route to St. Pete I had a 450 mile tank of gas, 29.38 mpg! The low fuel warning light never even came on!

Yep: a SUBARU SVX, made from '92 through '97. Flat 3.3L six, 230 hp, AWD, 4-speed auto, etc.

107,000 miles (now), previous gas mileage was primarilly computed as "in town" (vs. "long" as in excess of 1,000 miles trips on the highway) as being 20-22 mpg.

Have used mid-grade for 7+ years.

Used Auto-Rx to clean what was/is a very clean engine to begin with (30+ FREE!

oil & filter changes every 3K @ the dealership for 11 years, now) and to see what effect it would have on a slight seal leak (probably cam seals). The leak is long gone.

Other than a timing belt replacement @ 60K the engine has never really been "apart". No gasket replacements, no seals, etc. I've replaced hoses, belts, the o-ring on the PS pump, CV joint boots, rear wheel bearings, filters, battery, PCV, etc., but NEVER has the engine been opened up in any way.

One tranny replacement under warranty @ 56K.

A $4 bottle of redline sl1 fuel treatment did that for me too!

ODO 4400 Miles.

ODO 81000 Miles.

Red Line fuel treatment did nothing for my auto. Did not increase or decrease the mileage. I am now $4 richer because I don't use it anymore.
