This vehicle has just over 210k miles as of now, Amsoil Ea oil filter, K and N air filter, every 5k it gets either Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant or MMO. The engine is a Ford 4.6 Make Up Oil 3.5-4 Quarts (approximately 6 months on this run) ALUMINUM 5 CHROMIUM 2 IRON 33 COPPER 12 LEAD 1 TIN 3 MOLYBDENUM 21 NICKEL 2 MANGANESE 1 SILVER 0 TITANIUM 1 POTASSIUM 3 BORON 8 SILICON 29 SODIUM 13 CALCIUM 4440 MAGNESIUM 21 PHOSPHORUS 717 ZINC 911 BARIUM 0 Values Should Be* SUS Viscosity @ 210°F 65.5 57-67 cSt Viscosity @ 100°C 11.77 9.4-12.4 Flashpoint in °F 465 >385 Fuel % <0.5 <2.0 Antifreeze % 0.0 0.0 Water % 0.0 0.0 Insolubles % 0.3 <0.6 TBN 2.5

Looks good for the long mileage. But a lot of make-up oil. My suggestion is to dump the K&N air filter and get a Amsoil or WIX or OEM. Also the oil is one of THE best made, and does not need the help of Lucas or MMO. They could actually interfere with the Amsoil additives. Thanks for sharing.

Yes additives for the fuel system not oil, this car is part of a limo company fleet but is itself just a regular sedan.

I agree with dumping K&N air filter and if top off is needed just use SSO.

Does anyone have any thoughts on thevoil consumption? I have a 2000 with 150k on the same engine that consumers about the same amount, and a 2004 with 170k that hardly consumes any oil at all.

Man, I guess if I had to drive a lot it would be this vehicle. It is a very impressive UOA. I agree with changing the air filter to a WIX or OEM paper filter but that is it. Where the heck do you drive to? That is a lot of miles everyday (140 or so). Thanks!!

Are they all running the same oil?

How old is the PCV valve?

I had a 96 Merc GM with the Ford 4.6. When I sold it with 218K it used a qt every 6500 miles with M1 10-30. That was the same oil usage as when the engine was nearly new.

early 4.6s use some oil. my 97 4.6 uses a quart every 3.5 to 4k miles. my 94 4.6 uses a quart every 2 to 3k. nice run, op

SSO...great oil. Would like to know more about the driving habits, but everything looks good. I echo.."keep doing what you're doing." Amsoil shines in applications like this where extended drains really help out the business.

The consumption is pretty minimal. Many people doing 5k OCI's wouldn't even top up. Plus, consuming at this low level is probably ideal for long OCI's since you can refresh the TBN. The only thing I'd change is the oil filter, say at the 1/2 way point. Your insoluables are pretty high, plus you could top off the oil a little more. If you changed the filter @15K, the oil would probably do 30K without problem, since you'd have an addition 1qt of top-up. I'm no K&N fan, but it sure seems to be working for you. Per mile, your Si numbers are among the lowest I've seen?? Why people are saying to ditch the K&N is beyond me.

oops, my bad-I misread it--I thought it was at .6%. OK, scratch that...don't change anything!
