First UOA I've done on this engine, but I was surprised. Runs excellent, has normal oil pressure, uses less than a quart between 5K intervals - mostly steady highway driving. Not original to the car, but if the seller was correct it has a bit over 450K on it at this point. Comments? Is it possible it just has enough miles on it that the bearings have worn through to the chewy center?

I have this same oil in my W123 300TD with the OM617 (245K mi.), and it returned only 23 ppm iron and everything else looked excellent on a 4,900 mi. interval with a lot more short trips.

I think coolant is bad for bearings. So if you do have a coolant leak that could be causing the other wear metals to be high.
