Oil used since 1000 miles has been Amsoil 10W30. Last several years changed at 7,500 with filter regardless of time interval.
Some may consider the numbers high, iron, silicon but the trend over the years shows similar wear. Note that it seems the lab changed equip or policies as the numbers changed in the past few years as well. Also that I have a letter from Amsoil in 1994 which states that Amsoil, out of the bottle, had 15 ppm of silicon. Not sure when this changed. Also, phosphorus content and sodium changed in 1996 and Amsoil confirmed a change in formula (after asking them) and then went back to the old one later Some people have stated Amsoil will do this without informing users.
Note the one time I went to 15,000, numbers soared. I stopped getting the TBN etc. after a few samples. Never did get the oxidation or nitration. Lab used since new has been Analysts inc.
Don't understand why silicon and iron have dropped off so much in the past few samples, nothing I have done has changed.
