Yup! I wished I had known back then that I could have swapped intake manifolds so I could have installed a Quadrajet. Oh well, just a poor college kid back then and I likely would not have been able to afford it what with dating my future wife. At least I never ran out of gas on any dates!
The 1976 Buick Electra 225 with a Buick 350 and Quadrajet that replaced the 73 Impala did get better gas mileage. Yes, it did have a 350 from the factory as a result of a GM strike back then. Buick ran out of 455 engines and put 350 engines in the Electra 225s during that strike. Talk about causing problems at part stores! I finally told counter people I was driving a 76 Buick LeSabre whenever I needed something for the engine.
