Very nice finds on both of those. Seems the Japanese have done rather well with electronics during the years since. That "Approved for Electrical Safety - L.A. Department of Building and Safety" 'permit' is curious. Almost as if it's a homegrown UL-type approval? Born and raised here but don't recall ever seeing one of those stickers. Thanks for sharing!
 
Nice radio but everyone then knew that Japanese electronics, cameras and cars would never amount to anything. They knew that "made in Japan" meant "junk".
 
My Dad had one of those! It sat on the table next to his bed and every night he would listen to a "talk radio" program before he went to sleep. Brings back memories smile
 
50C5, 35W4, 12BE6, 12BA6, and 12AV6, otherwise known as a second generation all american five. Places that had a 100 ish line voltage would have a 35C5 output tube.
 
Neat pictures and interesting stuff. I'll have to post some pictures of my old Atwater Kent for you guys' opinions.
