I was given 3 gallons of Supertech 15w-40 diesel oil for free. Will I be OK to run it in my zero turn mower with a Kawasaki FH721V spec'd for 10w-30?

Im using the 15/40 Rotella T5 semi synthetic in my Husqvarna GTH2248xpc which has the FH641V Kawasaki V twin. Has 650 hours.

Next oil change going to the Full synthetic 15/40 Rotella.

I was using the required 10/30 wt and it was leaking to much for me and consumption was 1/4 qt. per cutting.

Switched to the 15/40 less leaks (has seal conditioner ) and consumption is non measurable.

Use 15/40 with confidence

I just started using 15-40 Delo in a similar Kohler engine. Works fine so far.

Question: why would oil consumption increase using a multi-grade?

The Kawasaki in my John Deere 425 just turned over 761hrs yesterday while I was mowing and it has had mostly Delo and ST 15w40 oil in it, so I guess it's ok to use!
Seriously, I think it's one of the best choices for oil without going to some boutique oil costing many times more and offering little or no increase in lifespan.

The 40 weight oils do well in the Kawasaki engines. I exclusively use 0W-40 in my John Deere with the 25 hp Kawasaki. John Deere says to use 30 weight in the engine but I got a hold of the original Kawasaki engine manual and they recommend 40.

I happen to use Rotella T5 15w40 in my 501v but yes, the Supertech 15w40 is a very good oil.

Kawasaki now has a recommendation that includes 20w50. If it can run on that, it can run on 15w40.
