Aside from old school hot rods, I'm not a fan of swapping in an engine of a different make. I can always stuff an S52 or similar under the hood with not a lot of trouble, but I'd like to keep it a four banger...


Yes...you could spend more money to make less power...but WHY?! If the stock engine is an iron block, the LS might actually be LIGHTER.

IMO the 318 is a uniquely reliable and simple car. My good friend has had one since forever, and has over 200k miles on it. It still drives nicely and is good looking if you like that styling.

I have heard a lot more positive comments about older 4 banger BMW's than newer more complex models...
