I get my single taps at local Ace Hardware. Lowe’s and HD have a bad selection of bits, taps etc.

There are many grades and prices, a few here. Old Greenfield taps are one of the very best not the new ones.
If I were buying one for myself it would be a NOS Greenfield, new Morse or Widia.

I'm sure my Snap On taps and dies are all US made but my set is probably 35 years old. Not sure about now.
I read they are made by Widia who is the original Greenfield. The Greenfield name was bought by Vermont American but not the manufacturing.
As I said I read this so I am just passing this on and cannot vouch for the accuracy of the info but it seems to be correct.
