Hi

A friend of mine tells me every 10 to 15,000kms he uses one of those concentrated fuel system cleaners, the directions on the back says to pour in the gas tank before a fill up.....

only he does not fill up , he puts in 1/2of a tank, he claims doing this makes the cleaner more concentrated.....

he does this before a big road trip, that way the 1/2 tank of concentrated gas is burned off very quickly , instead of sitting in the lines...

during every rebuild he has done, these was either little or no carbon in the combustion chamber.....

i am wondering if this is a common practice i shoud pick up as well....

why not just add two bottles to a full tank every now and then if you want a high concentration?

I believe the manufacturer says to a full tank for a reason. If it worked better/didn't do any damage at a higher concentration they would tell you to do that.

Depends on which cleaner.

If it's one of those bottles for up to 12 gallons and you put it into a 26 gallon tank it better be half empty/full (depending on your view on life).

The main reason it says to add it and then fill up is so that it mixes.

I've got a 9~10 gallon tank on my aspire, so I don't mind filling it up after putting it in.
