Just received an email back from Castrol Customer Service. They are going to look into this pricing error at Walmart.
This was their reply:

Thank you for contacting Castrol North America.

The price in question for Castrol EDGE Euro Car 0W-40 A3/B4 on Walmart.com is not correct so we will reach out to Wal-Mart about the observation to have it corrected.

The Walmart.com system uses auto pricing to match the lowest market price in most cases. However, their system is not perfect so when errors like this are found, we ask them (Wal-Mart) to help fix it as soon as possible.

We appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to our attention!

Thank you again for contacting Castrol. We value your patronage!

Sincerely,

As stated above MS-12633 is the spec you seek.

From the web:

lease correct and add others as you come across them. I am hoping we can keep this list fairly up-to-date and most of all accurate.

Note: It's hard to tell from a manufacturer's website if their product is actually licensed by FCA (now Stellantis)

SAE 0W40 APPROVED AND LICENSED Oils ONLY :

  • Pennzoil Ultra-Platinum (PUP)
  • Schaeffers Supreme 9000
  • Valvoline Advanced (formerly Synpower) ?
Claim the specification but not licensed :

  • Ravenol J1A1555 SSL
  • Amsoil Signature Series
  • Red Line
Don't claim to meet the MS-12633 Specification :
  • Castrol Edge
  • Mobil1 FS European Car Formula or Mobil1 Advanced (non-European version)
  • Amazon Basics
  • Royal Purple
  • Motul 8100 X-Max
  • Maxima
  • Shell Helix Ultra
  • Amalie Elixir
  • Liqui-Moly

Ravenol's "recommendation" has been mentioned on here before. Castrol used to recommend it too, but dropped it. That was, previously, the only other full-SAPS Euro oil to carry the recommendation before Valvoline started "recommending" theirs.

The Shaeffers product is NOT formally approved BTW, it's "meets or exceeds", note the statement:

VS Shell's:

Note the language. It has the formal approval for MS-A0921 (the current one).

AMSOIL's language is similar to Shaeffer's:

Valvoline is the same way, it's just a recommendation, note RECOMMENDED applications:
