At what temperature would the 0w have better flow vs the 5w, I am a Mobil oil guy and I loved the 0w 40 FS in my vortec series gm motors. but it's a little thicker than I'd like for my new 6.2 silverado possibly, and it's had a very high count of additives which may not be good for a DI and low...
I am pretty new to this website and want to know differences between these weights. I live in SoCal and have been told a 0W30 and 5W30 weights are too thin too use. They advice me to use 10W30. I would like to someones opinion who knows oil. Its for an ls1 camaro with 113k miles that gets warmed...
Hi everyone, My quest to find the best replacement engine oil for my '16 BMW X1 has apparently ended me up in analysis paralysis. My thought process went on something like: "We have bad gasoline here so I should stick with LL-01 ones and stay away from those fancy European LL-04+ oils...
Can someone explain to me what the major difference is between the two? If I understand correctly the 0w30 is thinner at startup. Is this right? Also if a vehicle specs 5w30 is there any benefit (or detriment) to using a 0w30?
Fill cap calls for 5W30, but I am looking for fuel savings, if it won't hurt anything. Entering spring in the pacific northwest, so not worried about freezing tempatures by the time the next change comes around.
why does it work? tried on 4 different motors b and d series Honda. switched from mobil1 5w30 to mobil1 0w30 and knock is gone even at cold start... drove the cars for months after daily and no rod knock and the engine feels smoother to my ear at least
it's mighty cold here in Michigan, and it seems like the 3.5 liter V-6 doesn't turn over real good with the factory spec'd 10W-30 in the crankcase. Would it be OK to use a lower viscosity oil for the next oil change? Anyone see a problem? Thanks in advance for any replies.
I'm sure it's been asked before, but here goes: I was made aware of Mobil1 12 dollar rebates thanks to BITOG and picked up 2 5 quart jugs of 0w30 for around $10 each. My f150 ecoboost calls for 5w30 and I just changed to the 0w30 tonight for the winter, it gets [censored] cold here in SD. I...
hey guys, my f-sport is due for an oil change soon and i been thinking about switching to 5w20 instead of 0w20. currently i have edge EP ow20 in it, the 5w20 will be the same. it will be 5w20 edge EP. would it be okay to switch? with summer coming up, im thinking about go up one. thanks.
Hi guys! I'm new here and have been lurking for just a bit also. And I can say is that I really learned a lot here in this community. This will be my first post here in this great forum and I really looking forward on your great advise and expertise. I'm currently working here in Saudi Arabia...
My 2009 corolla 1.8 says I can use either viscosity, but on every website oil selector shows 0w20. Not sure which I should use. I know that the cold weight is super close and the hot weight is the same. I know previous to 09, the engines used 5w30, and everything after calls for 0w20
Which would you choose? Guess the question is how important is it to reduce the VII as far as wear or mileage? When my warranty expires considering going from 0w20 to 5w20. Your view?
