Here are the results from the first UOA on my 2006 Dodge Charger with a 5.7 Hemi. It'm my wifes daily driver that saw almost 20K in it's first 10-11 months. Primarily highway with a Fredericksburg, VA to Buffalo, NY round trip just before the sample.

History of vehicle:

Bought new off dealer lot in early 2007 with 300 miles.
Changed factory fill at 1200 with M1 5-20/Wix
Changed again at 5250 with M1 5-20/Wix
Changed at 11,500 with Amsoil ASM 0-20/Wix (this sample)

I drained the ASM and replaced it with ASM and Wix filter(this time a oversized Wix 51515).

Oil had 8580 miles and vehicle had 20,080 at time of sample.

My results are on the left and univeral averages on the right. Note - I had a AFE CAI on since I got the vehicle and it wasn't cleaned until after the sample (compressed air - I haven't truly cleaned and re-oiled it yet but I will in the coming days)

I used 1/2 quart of make up oil at about the 5K mark and another 1/2 quart at 7K.

I'd like to do 10K OCI's on both of my vehicles form now on. Both see 15-20K per year.

Comments: HAROLD: No problems were found in the first sample from your Charger. Universal averages, for this type of Dodge,
are based on an oil run of 4700 miles. You've run your oil longer than that and wear was about where it should be. The
TBN read 4.2 so you had plenty of active additive remaining for the extra miles. The viscosity was fine for a 0W/20 and
no fuel, coolant, or moisture was found. Insolubles were low, so your oil filter is doing a good job. Try going 9000-9500
miles on the next oil. Copper should still improve, even with the longer oil change.

Mostly just break in metals. Almost half the engine's life has been with this oil.

Your viscosity numbers are transposed. Zinc should have one "0"?

Oil and engine in fine shape. What is factory recommended OCI?

Try PP next time it has some of the best UOAs in 5W20 form. 10,000 miles on PP, Mobil 1 and Amsoil would be an interesting comparison.

Pablo,

Thanks for the reply...yes, Zinc should have read 704 but it was too late to edit.

Factory OCI is 3K severe and 6k normal.

That sounds good.

Actually my goal is 10K in both cars with ASM.

I'm pleased since, as Pablo noted, half of this engines life has been with this OCI. Also, I have a CAI which are allegedly poor at air filtration. While silicon could have been lower it was not poor.

I've got too much ASM on the shelf for that...I have nothing against PP but I like the idea of ASM and potentialy longer drains in the future.

Thanks though.
