06 Colorado blower motor issues

My blower motor got to where it would cut out and work intermittenly. Finally, it would work only on high. I replaced the resistor. About a month later, it went out again. I replaced the blower motor with a new AC Delco blower motor, and again, replaced the resistor. A week later, back to working only on high. What else can I check?

Look for burned terminals in the connector at the resistor. I'm not sure if the Colorado had this issue or not, but a lot of the GMs have had issues where a faulty blower resistor would get very hot and burn the connector. I've personally seen arcing happening in front of my eyes in a few connectors and a tiny flame once.

Also, avoid using the lowest blower speed with the temperature at full hot.

Here is your solution

GM actually went through and re-engineered the harness and resistor bc of this issue. It took me more time to pull it in the garage and gather the tools, then the actual install.
G.M. parts direct has a combination harness/ resister pack for under $60 shipped. Or you can do it the cheap way as below.
I doubt seriously if the resistor pack really ever goes bad. There are 3 resistors in series and a Thermal fuse on that pack. If your working on 4, then the blower and thermal fuse are good. Clean the ground gp106 connection behind the air filter. Cut the plug off but keep it for reference as to what color wires go where. Tin the Remaining wires then twist the post on the resistor network at 45 degree angles. Add the right high temp spade connector to the wires, plug it into the resistor network and be done with it.
Here is another way.

Get underneath and put it on 1-3 that doesn't work... Shake the wires coming out of the resistor one at a time and figure out which one is lose. Mark it the pull the harness out. Use a small eye glass flat head and pop that pin out. Go to autozone, advance, oreilys get a new pin replace it on the wiring and yes you can get it off without screwing up the wiring its called patience. Once you have the new connector in put the wire back in the harness. Plug back into the resistor and enjoy Air between 1-3 again. I have done this on my truck my dads and now my uncle who just bough a used 355... It works! Cost about 2 smacker...
