Another drain & refill of 3/7.6 qt capacity and original tranny. Still no leaks, fluid level drops (coolant included), or shifting problems. AMSOIL ATF was used as the replacement. Magnet looked slightly better this time than previous 3k OCI.

Not looking good. I'm surprised that the TAN actually went up this time. I would've also expected the Aluminum and Iron to have dropped a lot more.

Are you sure your transmission isn't failing?

No, I'm not sure. But, it's not leaking, no lights flashing, no codes set, shifts the same. I don't know what else to look for with this car.

They did at least drop this time. It has been going up since the factory fill was drained. I plan on doing another D&R w/ UOA at 84k miles.

Your metals are actually coming down. It's almost like you had some "incident" somewhere along the line. As crazy as it sounds, I would just flush the tranny out completely at home with an inexpensive Dex III and then replace with a full quantity of Amsoil ATF.

Actually, the sample with the high numbers was the sample where he switched labs.

I have ~ 92% AMSOIL in there now. What % do you suggest? Why would I do a flush with a Dex III that may or may not meet that spec (as weak as it was anyway)? Are my 3k mile OCIs not a flush? Or, do really short ATF changes show abnormally high 'wear' rates and are in no way linear & shouldn't be directly compared to 3x OCIs?

My suggestion was merely to get your ATF back to some baseline level. I have no comments on the differences in lab numbers - I just think it would be wise to clean the tranny out. It certainly will not harm it to blow some Dex III through it, go through the gears, repeat. The flush and fill does an OK job cleaning the nooks and crannies over time and renewing the fluid but it seems like the spike back 20K+ ago is only slowly tapering off.

Flush it via the lines and repeat. PITA, I know. Then fill/flush with the fluid of your choice.

To be clear: You feel the unit is doing fine?

What has prompted repeated oci's? The numbers from Terry?

Switching labs should NOT be an issue, but everyone knows that results DO (not can) vary greatly.

I do feel the unit is doing fine from a driver's position. The numbers from Terry didn't prompt the frequent drains as the 2 3k OCI from Blackstone appear much worse than the 15k OCI from Terry. I am doing (partly) the short OCIs to quickly (relative to previous OCIs) increase the % of AMSOIL in the unit.
