I have fill and drained maybe 8 times in the last 5 years. This auto tranny is very hard on oil. Vehicle has 70K miles and I use various brands of Dextron III. I put in some Mercon V this time. Analysis by Butler. CU...17 Fe....8 Cr....0 Ni....0 Pb....2 Sn....2 Al....3 Si....3 Na....3 Mo....3 B.....91 Ca....181 Mg....1 P.....280 Zn....21 Vis 6.0 I think the results are good. But bear in mind I do a drain every 8 to 10K.

This has got to be the cleanest transmission on the road today! It will be interesting to see how long this one last for you. I think you could double your change interval and still last forever.

These trannies are not known for durability. The first one went out at 300 miles. I probably can't do enough to keep it going for the duration. At less than 20 bucks per year its good insurance.

Is there any issue switching between a Dexron III and a Mercon V ATF? Does your transmission accept both specs?

My stepmom has a 00 Sentra which I drained some fluid out twice. I only did it cause it looked a little dirty and it shifts perfect. I don't intend to change my fluid again on my SER. I didn't know the Sentra had issues with their trannys Al. I will watch the fluid more closely Thanks.
