I remember the green bottles, and the white "Deluxe" QS bottles too. I even remember the commercials "The big Q stands for Quality".

Citgo oil is common in farm stores, as is Mystik brand. Stamped on cases of Citgo oil is "Made in USA, Houston TX".

Run it and don't worry.

Probably a gunked up throttle body. Pull the sensors and give it a good scrubbing with throttle body cleaner.

If the intake manifold problem is straightened out, run ANYTHING in it. 3800s are easy on oil. Ive run just about every brand/weight and the Bonneville loves it. Ive even run Chevron Delo 15w40 in it with no trouble of any kind. Still quiet as a mouse.

Took my driving test in a red '84 Dodge Aries 2.2.. That car was my first oil change too(QS in the circular white bottles) Had loads of fun driving that car with my friends and getting killer gas mileage.

Mix away.

In my 94 SL1, I used Delo 15w40 in the summer, mixed 50/50 with whatever else I had laying around. Went through around a quart every 800 miles or so. Car ran great, great MPG. I miss it!!

1984 Dodge Aries, fire engine red, Mom's car. Used the white round Quaker State bottles and a Fram 3614 filter. Was a great learning experience!!!

Id love to try some of the Winter Blend Quaker State sometime for the cold weather, but I never see it in stores locally.

Only problem Ive ever had was while changing my Dad's oil about a week ago. As I spun off the filter, my oily hands dropped it. It rolled about 10 feet down the driveway, leaving me a small cleanup job after I was finished.

A 3800 V6 is easy on oil, you can run just about any weight you have on hand and it will be just fine.

Change the fluid/filter and there's a small chance you'll do more harm than good. If you do nothing, you will be buying a new tranny at some point..... Change it if you ask me.....
