GM 1.5L Turbo - Help Me Pick an Oil!

It’s not bad at all. The only thing is getting the fill cap off and a funnel in without burning your hands off. Thus, do it cold 😂.

Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

You are correct. I’m so used to the 5 qt containers 😂. I might just be losing it too.

    NAPA Gold 1515 C&P

I hope they do. I have other vehicles that I want to use PGI Premium filters on, but can’t because they aren’t being sold. However, I just found out my Rural King offers the new M1 filters.

I’ll take a look later today. I know it has M+H branding on the side.

    NAPA Gold 1515 C&P

Yes, this filters media was very thin. I’ve seen better on PGI jobber filters.

    NAPA Gold 1515 C&P

Only downside is no PG filter with silicone ADBV. Now, I can get a CQ Premium, which constitutes a PG filter with silicone ADBV, just not from RA.

Post your latest lower end unit or transmission fluid change.

Yeah, it’s such a small amount. The interval, according to the manual, is 1000 hrs. At the boats current rate, once every 40 years 😂. But it’s so cheap to do and so easy. The Valvoline is what my local Walmart had. I was anxious to get the boat out on the water for the first time, splurged on...

Post your latest lower end unit or transmission fluid change.

I didn’t see one of these types of posts for marine. 1990 Mastercraft Prostar 190 w/ Borg Warner Velvet Drive transmission. Out: unknown fluid In: 1.5 qts of Valvoline Dexron III

Post your latest boat or PWC oil and filter change

1990 Mastercraft Prostar 190 with 351w engine. This engine has 600 hours. Off: Unknown oil and NAPA Gold 1515. In: M1-301a and M1 Delvac Extreme 15w40. I’ve never ran an M1 filter or even M1 oil. It has never been my cup of tea. However, it is probably the second best option for the money and...

    NAPA Gold 1515 C&P

On the cutter today is a NAPA Gold 1515. This filter comes off a Mastercraft Prostar boat w/ the 351w engine. I just purchased this boat and went through all the filters and fluids. This filter crosses over to a Motorcraft FL1A and WIX 51515. The oil was unknown. The OCI was unknown. I have...

GM 1.5L Turbo - Help Me Pick an Oil!

I ran Valvoline EP 0w20 in my 1.5L GMC Terrain. I had mostly short trips to work, about 2 miles. I didn’t have any issues in my 125k miles. This engine did have issues with LSPI when it first came out.

Premium Guard PG6161 — Cadillac ELR

Looks like it did its job. This oil filter is ~$4 at RA. I’ll run these at some point.

    WIX WL10290 C&P, 5k miles

They looked fine. They weren’t wide open like I see on some Baldwin filters, but no restrictions and none closed.

    Purolator LX3717

Looks to be nearly the same construction as the three WIX filters I just cut open. I’ve seen many many many M+H filters here look like absolute crud. These look, at the very least, usable, as did my recent C&Ps. If M+H would take pride in their quality again, I don’t think anyone would be able...

Beautiful PGI filter! These can be had for $1-4 on RA for nearly every vehicle.

It’s nice to see these glued ends can hold up to OPE oil temperatures.

What do you folks use for rear brake calipers?

I’ve only used it for one brake job this past year on a Subaru. It worked well. Other than this, I’ve got a big ole’ USA made c-clamp I’ve used.
