is there a way to bench test the regulator? the voltage dipped below 12 while the car was running.

car has 298k miles on it and I'm pretty sure this is an oem one, it's a denso alternator.

I found a full rebuild kit here, might go with this route. it doesn't look like too much work to do on the rotor. just need to pull a bearing off...

There are rebuild kits with nippon denso parts, but I can't seem to find a slip ring for it

Attached below are some pics, alternator completely failed, doesn't charge, brushes definitely worn down. I might replace the voltage regulator since I'm already in here and pull apart the assembly to clean if this looks repairable to clean it out.

It's a brand new seal, i just nicked the surface of it though... Can i keep using it or should i just get a new one?

Possibly, maybe these vintage hondas/acuras are just a marvel of engineering. I'm happy to own one even though it looks like a beater.

Yeah I waited about 20 minutes and gave it a few 2k rpm holds before concluding the readings weren't going to change. Letting the engine cool as we speak so I can replace the sensor. I think cold it was 30psi and up idle. So it traveled quite a bit. Engine must not be original is my conclusion...

Update: So i pulled old sensor out. Was an aftermarket one by the looks of it. I tested grounds and bulb works just fine in the dash. Got the oil testing gauge in there and the readings were about 20psi idle and 70psi at 3k rpm. Bearings definitely arent worn because the minimums to pass were...

Well. I'll try get this project done this weekend. I really don't have any other choice. I was going to rely on this car to get me to and from work next week since my daily has a seized brake caliper and parts don't come in till Monday. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

So to test the oil pressure I need to get a gauge screwed into there. Might not be fun, but I'll crawl under and see if I can get grab an oil pressure gauge from harbor freight and get a reading. The minimum in my manual says 10psi at idle and 50psi at 3000rpm. I'm hoping the numbers are better...
