Any engine upgrades available for the Buick Enclave?

You know, I'm starting to question a lot of these repair estimates. If you've done the job in roughly an hour, then maybe these shops are doing it wrong. Take the guy linked below for instance. It seems he's pretty well respected. Be he goes on about how the whole thing has to come out and it's...

Any engine upgrades available for the Buick Enclave?

Yeah it looks like the Camaro mods would be the way to go, if one was going to do it. And as someone said, that means a twin turbo. Then transmission upgrades, brakes, etc. Money. Man it sounds like you had a LOT of trouble out of that thing lol. I would still be interested in seeing a list of...

Any engine upgrades available for the Buick Enclave?

Not when you need the power to get out of the way of something, or you're changing lanes and something unexpected happens, and you need to move. There's times in life when the extra power is very handy, and if you don't understand the utility then I don't have any business arguing with you. If...

Any engine upgrades available for the Buick Enclave?

Try getting around an 18 wheeler in a 1996 ford ranger 4 cylinder. I'd wager the insurance companies would advise against it.

Any engine upgrades available for the Buick Enclave?

Sir I recommend that you and the thumbs up you received please go back and read post #3. It is indeed desirable to have good power solely for passing, especially when the vehicle in question may be suspected of lacking in this regard. I would of course take the advice of other members and test...

Any engine upgrades available for the Buick Enclave?

Hmm, your reply would seem to indicate that I would use a Buick Enclave to play around in, or otherwise feel like I'm driving fast. I have a Mustang that is plenty fast for that job. I can assure you I have no intention of doing anything like that in a lumbering SUV beast. When I pass something...

Any engine upgrades available for the Buick Enclave?

Hi all. I've settled on a Buick Enclave to haul our first kid around in. I remember Buicks being nice, with a soft ride and low road noise, so the Enclave is what I'm going to buy. But it's going to be a lower mileage 2013-2017 model. I like the way those look, and I need to like the way my...

    Couple of newb filter questions

Or just run propane. It is known to contaminate engine oil less than gasoline does in an internal combustion engine. Propane burns more cleanly than gasoline and produces fewer byproducts that can mix with and contaminate engine oil. Gas produces byproducts like unburned fuel, soot, and acids...

    Couple of newb filter questions

Ok so we have to rig up small distiller that can somehow be installed in a car. Is this possible? LOL!

    Couple of newb filter questions

I tend to replace things as the rest of the car wears out. Suspension, interior, transmission... I just fix it all as it eventually dies. As such, I have a 22 year old toyota and a 30 year old chevy truck that don't really seem all that old. I'll keep driving them forever if possible, so making...

    Couple of newb filter questions

First I should say I'm a newb compared to some of the veterans around here. Now to the point: 1. Is there any oil filter that actually filters out the gasoline that gets into the engine oil? 2. What actually separates a 10k mile oil filter from a 5k mile filter? Seems that generally, they...

Can I do this to my Camry Hybrid?

That's meaningless if they told you not to operate the vehicle in those temperatures. Or to change things up if conditions change. I'm just going off the video, which was the main focus of the thread so I'm not sure where that last guy is getting his assumptions.

Can I do this to my Camry Hybrid?

The manual says to use 0w16, and it says you can use the next highest one once. Then you must use 0w16 again the next oil change. Both of the oil change places I went to told me this as well. So maybe it's important on the hybrid. I know some toyotas started using low pressure piston rings.

Can I do this to my Camry Hybrid?

Yeah I dunno. Reading this site a bit, the wisdom seems to be "They could make a filter that would clog in 1,000 miles". Meaning the oil isn't getting completely filtered anyway. Not sure which one would be better for a 7,500 mile OCI. A 10k mile filter seems like the obvious choice but who knows.

Can I do this to my Camry Hybrid?

If we go by the word of the former toyota tech in the video, the 10k oci caused that doctor's car to wear the cylinders out. And the engine's life was spent at 150k miles. He said it's because gasoline gets to stay in the oil longer when you run oil for 10k miles. Breaks it down and turns it...

How much power can I make from a 5.3l LS with these limitations?

Would the 6.2L and 6.0L be the same size as the 5.3L? Are they the same engine with a longer stroke? Just curious about how much room they take up. Not that it will matter in an 87 Squarebody but I'd still like to know.

Can I do this to my Camry Hybrid?

So would AMSoil protect the engine better if I'm wanting to do a 7500 mile interval? And should I just couple that with a 10k mile oil filter? Cause obviously you wouldn't use a 5k mile oil filter for a 7500 mile interval.

Can I do this to my Camry Hybrid?

Yeah I wish I knew that number. Then I'd just go up from there. If I knew the percentage, I could add that mileage to 5,000 and change the oil then. So maybe I'll just stick with a 7500 interval.

Can I do this to my Camry Hybrid?

That video is one of the reasons I started this thread. I typically change the oil every 7500 miles, but I wanted to raise that to 10k. So doing a little research, I found that video. Says not to do 10k. Made me question my 7500 interval. But I'm not sure what percentage of the miles should be...
