New / nearly new Altima, having rented and driven them long distance i thought it was pretty good. Basically been production for >10 years should have no unknown issues.

I would just manage total combined weight. If you dont have any rear seat passengers and a fully load cabin you probably have some headroom that makes a 1500lb trailer manageable.

Agree and on a Saturday or Sunday as a DIYer even worse. Its faster to install new ones and the marginal savings isnt worth it for me. Maybe if a new rotor was >$100...
Sounds fixable, that is all bolt on parts. Just because it is deemed Financially a Total Loss does not mean it isnt fixable. I would have someone look at it and get an estimate to fix it.
The front passenger seat is easy to remove and install. If you need more sleeping length remove it and set your bed up in that spot.
I haven't tried it but I feel like a normal cot would fit
