Unusual (to me) sound from headers after oil change. Is this normal?

No, as is pretty clear from the context, I said "headers" when I mean "heads" as in cylinder heads not exhaust headers. I'm used to hearing sound from valves and cams and all the parts under there, but the sound is much louder than I ever recall (at first I thought I was hearing lifter tick)...

Unusual (to me) sound from headers after oil change. Is this normal?

I have a 2013 Mustang with a Coyote V8 with19,000mi. I have been putting Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 with a motocraft filter. This is the second change with 5w30 instead of 5w20. The engine has about 1,500 miles of 5w30 usage. Oil pressure reports as "normal", no leaks, and the vehicle drives fine...

Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

10 quarts of PP 5W30 and a motorcraft filter, those 5.0 Coyote's need 8 quarts -- so thirsty! Huzzah for Walmart selling PP for $25/5 quarts still.

Low Mileage Vehicle with PP. Use oil past a year?

I have a for fun vehicle (sports car) that I drive a few thousand miles a year, and it gets "stored" for about 4-5 months out of the year. Typically I change the oil every spring when I bring her out on the road again, but I'm wondering if I am just wasting oil. The engine is a 2013 5.0...

What weight oil would you run in a 2011 Ford F150 with 3.5 L gas eco-boost?

FWIW, the newer 3.5EB all spec 5w30 instead of the 5w20 of before. I have a 3.5EB and a 5.0 Coyote, and I run PP 5w30 in both (the 2013 Coyote specs 5w20, but the 2018 EB specs 5w30).

    Oil spill cleanup products?

So I had a "fun adventure" today changing the oil on my 2018 2.5 ecoboost. By fun I mean I ended up spilling about a quart of oil and a good half cup or so made it off my absorber mat and onto on my smoothed garage floor. To make matters worse, the spill got all over my winter wheel with all...

Is my sample viable if it was from the last trickle?

I changed the oil in my F-150 3.5 ecoboost today and I tried to get a sample. Unfortunately I had a lot of trouble not spilling the old oil all over the **** place (thanks for the design that sprays engine oil several feet and through the wheel Ford!) and I wasn't able to get the sample...

    Thanks and some info.

My Dad was an engineer (i.e. the kind that does mechanical work) for a mining company. He and I did every kind of mechanical maintenance or repair you could imagine on our family cars short of a complete engine, differential or transmission rebuild. Seems like the repairs always needed to happen...

    Thanks and some info.

So I changed my oil in my 2013 Mustang GT today. Based on advice here and elsewhere I went with Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and a Motorcraft filter. Thanks for everyone that weighed in! Change went smooth. The last guy that put on my oil filter did it right and I was able to take it off by hand...

    Oil/Filter Recommendations?

That would certainly make keeping the right oil and filters stocked up since they both use the same filter, hah. I like the idea of running 5w30 instead of 5w20 in the Mustang since I do semi-regularly engage in spirited (but safe and legal) driving with it and it's almost never driven in cold...

    Oil/Filter Recommendations?

Do you mean the pennzoil ultra platinum only or all Pennzoil platinum?

    Oil/Filter Recommendations?

Thanks. I geek out about a lot of things.. Might add oil/filters/analysis to the list, hah!

    Oil/Filter Recommendations?

Sorry if this is not the right way to get this info, but I was hoping to get some recommendations on oil and filters for a couple of my vehicles now that I have decided to do my own oil maintenance 1. 2013 Mustang GT (5.0L Coyote): This is not a daily driver; gets about 2-3k miles/year; I...
