    Jumpstart with wrong terminals

Good. This is your lesson to never let the person needing a jump handle the cables. I had to learn this too. People needing jumps are usually stressed, impatient, careless or any combination of the three so they do all sorts of silly stuff during car jumps. These days I only offer to use my...

Truck was stolen while on family trip

14%? That's actually way higher than I anticipated. By the way, which tile do you use and do you do the paid service for it? I was looking into the tile a little the other day.

Truck was stolen while on family trip

I feel your pain. For the future it may not hurt to invest in a steering wheel lock as well as a lock that can secure your steering wheel to your brake pedal.

Theoretically, will an engine run with the throttle body removed?

I'm trying to picture this. Wouldn't there be a huge risk the rag gets sucked into one of the runners of the manifold?

Insurance companies watching your driving through a smart phone

If you've ever used google maps, you'll see the app can actually track your rate of speed. My guess is insurance companie's apps track usage activity and speed. A driver can mess with their phone more reliably when the car is stopped, but a passenger can easily do it whether the car is in...

Do manufacturers restock parts for older vehicles?

If it's one of those OEM part websites run by a dealer, they might not really be in stock. Most of the time you don't know if they have the part until you place an order.

    O'Reilly's Disc surfacing

I got it done at one. They ended up turning them down too low. They didn't charge me for it at the time. Kinda makes sense now....

Should new ball shafts joints have any slop?

Yes. I decided to replace the second one however. It's just such an expensive and time consuming job. I'll eat the return shipping fee for piece of mind.

Do you always, usually, or rarely torque bolts to spec?

Basically. Blows my mind whenever I read people snug down spark plugs without torque wrenches.

Should new ball shafts joints have any slop?

I got some new control arms from rockauto and I notice that if I use my hand to move the ball joint shaft on one of them the shaft will move, but it will rigidly stay in the position I pushed it to. On the other, if I push the shaft, it will move and stay at the position, but then start to kind...

    YouTube Mechanics

Yea, my only gripe is they always seems to convientely leave out an explanation of the more difficult aspect of some jobs. Case in point, their spark plug change video on the chevy 5.3L leaves out coverage of the number 8 plug.
