Probably good enough. If you have some lying around, try it. Why not try the 15w40? Are you starting in the severe cold on a regular basis? If so you might consider the T5 10w30.

I'm not clear what you did here. Wasn't the Castrol Power1 4T you had a 5w40? So you dumped the Castrol, but you got more Castrol? Or did you get the Power 1 4T in 10w40? So you tried the Rotella and you're dumping it now? I'm confused...

If that Castrol is working for you, keep using it. The comparable BMW oil that BMW recommends is ridiculously expensive... I'm not familiar with Bavaria being an oil producing region. They're most likely buying it from someone else and slapping their premium label (and price) on it. I...

Just like @Pete in PA and you did above! To use your analogy, one could talk about chocolate referring to things like percentage of cocoa, amount of sugar, amount of milk and or dairy ingredients, lecithin, carrageen, etc. But you'd need to be a true chocolate geek to care about that stuff! 🤓

I have no doubt that Honda knows what their engines require. It's their legal obligation to maximize shareholder value that assures me that there are better ways to choose oil than brand name alone.
