Anyone go multiple OCI without changing filter?

On a motorcycle that has the clutch running in the engine oil I guess it would make sense to change the filter every other oil change. My bike has a dry clutch and a strong magnet on the drain plug. I have only changed the filter once since I bought my bike new and it now has 70,000 miles and...

    Could have ruined my Guzzi

I filled the tranny with oil and went for a long ride. The noise is gone and everything seems normal. I will check the magnet on the drain plug in a few days and see what is there.

    Could have ruined my Guzzi

There could have been some oil in the transmission if all the oil does not drain out. The noise changed when I pulled in the clutch so I think it was the throwout bearing that was getting dry.

    Could have ruined my Guzzi

I was riding my 750 Guzzi today and it started to make a squeaking noise. I rode it home and checked oil levels. There was no oil in the transmission! I had changed the fluids a few months ago and must have forgotten to fill the transmission. I had drained out the Red Line Shockproof heavy that...

    Synthetic oil nonsense

I took the rocker cover off and replaced the gasket myself. It only took about 2 hours. The new rubber seal looked quite a bit thicker than the one I removed. I could almost not believe how clean the inside of the engine is. It almost looks like someone has polished it clean. I was using...

    Synthetic oil nonsense

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am keeping the Redline in the bike. I bought a set of metal gaskets that are supposed to be better than the OEM ones. Changing them will be something to do when riding season is over. The bike is a 2008 1200 Sportster Low with only 9800 miles on it. I am...

    Synthetic oil nonsense

There is a small leak in the rocker cover on my Sportster and the dealer said it's because I am using synthetic oil. I heard this from more than one Harley shop. They also said the engines are noisier with synthetics because they are so thin. What the heck started that tale? They are too thin...

Clean air filter with shop vac instead of replace?

I just got rid of an old Cummins Dodge truck with a little over 300,000 miles on it. Engine ran like it was new. The truck itself was a pile of rust. Never changed the air filter. I just washed if off with the garden hose and let it dry in the sun about once every two years. I never saw any...

    Walking the dog

A little girl asked her Mom, "Mom, may I take the dog for a walk around the block?" Mom replies, "No, because she is in heat." "What's that mean?" asked the child. "Go ask your father. I think he's in the garage." The little girl goes to the garage and says, "Dad, may I take Belle for a walk...

Got ripped off by a bogus web site

The problem is that my card was charged but the part is not available. Four emails requesting a cancel of the order have not been answered. Calling the cell phone number resulted in having a person saying "hello" When asked if he was involved with Dash Z he said yes. I requested that the order...

Got ripped off by a bogus web site

I ordered some new headlights for my old Benz from a place called Dash Z racing. The web site seemed for real but soon found out after having my card billed that it was a total fraud. I did a google search of the address and found out it was the local post office of the town they were supposed...

who uses an unmodified motor guard filter?

I use them on the engine oil as well as filtering my home brew bio diesel fuel. The oil flow is slow so I think the oil cools off enough so that it doesn't melt the plastic parts.

who uses an unmodified motor guard filter?

I have been using two unmodified Motor Guard filters on my Mercedes diesels for two years. No problems with the plastic.

    A woman goes to Italy

A woman goes to Italy to attend a 2-week, company training session. Her husband drives her to the airport and wishes her to have a good trip. The wife answers: 'Thank you honey, what would you like me to bring for you?' The husband laughs and says: 'An Italian girl!!!' The woman kept quiet and...

    Fixing a Rust Hole?

I am surprised nobody mentioned long strand fiberglass body filler. I make a support area using duct tape, then plastering the tape with the filler. When it cures I just pull the tape off and I am left with a very strong patch. Then I spray the area with vegetable oil because it soaks into every...

2 years on my perpetual OCI

It looks like the additives are not being depleted since they are the same as the earlier samples. This of course is what Ralph has been telling everyone for a long time. You are going 2434 miles on each quart of oil used. I think that's doing quite well.

2 years on my perpetual OCI

On the Benz the filter is just a paper element that goes into an aluminum housing so when you take it out you see the pleats in the paper. I check it once in a while and have never seen anything in the paper. The structural integrity looks just fine. The flow is still good because the housing...

2 years on my perpetual OCI

I don't think there will be anything to see in the filter. I have been running a Motor Guard filter on my diesel Benz for 6 years and have not changed the full flow for 110,000 miles. I change the TP element and change the oil each 5000 miles. 240,000 on the car now and runs fine. I changed the...
