    The problems with GDI

me and my wifes car both have dual injection, never really thought about the intake valves. I do run injector cleaner through them periodically. since they have twice the injectors compared to standard port injected engines.

Smart Stop Start - How does it work?

the battery monitor system, its basically always charging the battery now. the system is designed to adjust the load on the alternator based on the battery charge state.

Range Rover Evoque 2.0, EcoBoost 2012 under valve cover, 160k KM

looks great for a boosted motor. those 2.0 ecoboost are excellent engines. the 1.5 had the gasket issue the 2.0 hasnt had that problem. I almost never hear of any issues with them. Keep fresh oil in it and it should last a long time.

Modern Turbo Engine Reliability and Durability

this horse has been beat to death on bitgo. a N/A engine is less prone to issues just based on statistical analysis. less parts, simpler system. That does not mean a turbo engine cant go 200k+ miles without major failure. Its just statistically has higher chance of having an issue.

5k or 6k in Ford Cyclones

I do 5k oil changes. The oil life monitor shows around 30% at that point. typically if I extrapolate out it usually put me around the 7500 mark which is what the empirical formulas show is the correct oil change interval for my vehicle.

    Another 737 mishap

I've always found the crj planes to be very well engineered. They're fast and are fairly smooth considering their size. The sheer volume of there use also lends to the notion that they are a safe and well manufacture aircraft. the only downside is the size of the plane. There is one positive if...

    No good deed goes unpunished.

the lack of repair shops and people going into that kind of work has made it to where body shops can basically name their price. all you can do is go across town to the other shop that's going to charge the same price.

Are DIY friendly autos going to become a trend?

same as other reply, no one is saying that seatbelts do not increase survivability, nor did I say I didn't wear one. you just think that everyone should be forced to do something that no affect on you, but "its for the common good"

Are DIY friendly autos going to become a trend?

if you follow that thought process, then all fatty foods should be outlawed. people with heart disease should be more thoughtful of others who need access to healthcare. stupid rebuttal and the quip about me not wearing my seatbelt, is exactly the kind of thinking that allows seatbelt laws to...

Are DIY friendly autos going to become a trend?

well in their defense seat belt laws are an absolute over reach. The notion that I wearing my seat belt or not has any affect on any one else is a bold faced lie and everyone knows it. Do not reply that you should be wearing your seatbelt, because it saves lives. no one is arguing that a seat...
