I decided to buy the Akebono pads and Powerstop Geomet-coated rotors. I hope I made a good decision...a bit more expensive than I would have liked but I couldn't convince myself to get something else - although, there were some intriguing choices like the Pagid ceramic pads and a local shop...

I found Pagid Silver ceramic pads but not sure about them - are they made in Germany or India (or China)? I think that makes a difference.... if the latter, they're probably just like any other brand? These ones are cheaper than the Akebono so it's making me wonder.

Really? :) They're 'Silver' line ceramic - if they're worth trying, I'd save another $25 but that's not a lot extra to pay for really good pads.

Correct - PA has the NRS pads for $67 plus tax. They are semi-metallic but supposedly quiet for that material? What about the Hella Pagid Silver ceramic pads? Anyone know if they're any good? I thought they were made in Germany? I doubt it at the prices they are at PA - $50. I wonder...

Local rotors at the auto chain here (Cdn Tire) are on sale -$50/rotor and was wondering if EBC Ultimax 2 are good - on Amazon, $75 - pads are gonna be $50-ish and will be made in China and all seem comparable unless I get Akebono. I also can order from RA - and get pretty good rotors (coated)...

Yep. :) For e.g., my local dealer charges over $130 for rotors (x2) and over $120 for pads. I can find EBC pads on Amazon for $74 and Akebono pads are $80-ish locally and Rock Auto has a good price for them $55 - but, the shipping is $40 so, maybe that cancels out the savings? Depends on...
