I’ve had several sets of cooper discover ATs from the AT2s to the AT3 XLTs. I’ve generally had very good experiences with them. I did seem to rapidly lose wet traction with the AT3s (pre-XLTs) towards the end of their life.
2024 Silverado 2500HD 6.6l gas towing Sonic 231vrl. Truck is overkill for our camper, but our camper was just too big for the half ton I had when we purchased it (I was about 400lbs over payload fully loaded with trailer family and gear).
Wife’s 2020 traverse. Approximately 53k miles on the OE tires. Probably had a little life left in them, but I don’t like taking chances, especially with my wife’s car.
Off: continental crosscontact LX20
On: continental terrain contact H/T
Daughter’s 06 Corolla approx. 200k miles. Car had been my grandmother’s. She always took it to the same local shop for service.
Out: unknown fluid and filter
In: valvoline max life atf and power torque filter
The power torque filter looked exactly like the one that came off. Transmission...
24’ Silverado 2500 HD
Rear diff was about a a qt low from the factory (typical of current gen hd’s) when I checked during my first service at 1000 miles. Added mystik synthetic to bring it to specified level. Truck currently has 7200 miles.
Out: factory fill/ mystic mix
In: valvoline 75w-90...
24’ Silverado 2500 6.6 gas
5k miles on truck, 4k miles on oil
Out: Mobil 1 5w-30 truck and suv, AC Delco PF63
In: Mobil 1 5w-30 truck and suv, Fram Endurance FE10575
I’m tracking 22 psi bypass for current PF63. Main difference between PF63E and the current PF63 is the metal end caps on the PF63. The PF63E had fiber end caps.
Actually, I do have a 3.6 in my wife’s 2020 traverse (lol). Her manual calls for the PF63. It’s quite convenient that both vehicles take the same oil and filters. I don’t know why a 2020 GMC and 2020 Chevy 3.6 would be any different.
I think either are fine. I’m running the truck and suv in mine because it was available when I bought oil. Id have no hesitation using the advanced synthetic if truck and suv weren’t on the shelf.
24’ Silverado HD, 6.6 gas, initial oil change. 1200 miles on engine and oil.
Out: Factory Fill and Filter
In: Mobil 1 Truck and SUV 5w-30, AC Delco PF63 filter.
Mobil 1 is the only one of the three you listed that doesn’t have an exclusion for vehicles over 10k lbs GVWR (many modern 3/4 ton trucks are over 10,000 GVWR). I have been using QSFS in my current truck, understanding that there’s no warranty coverage from the oil company. My next truck will...
After checking my stash, I think that this was my last jug of SP, dexos 1 gen 2. Not the triple action formula. I still have 2 qts of this oil. I guess the next 2 changes will be 1qt of dexos1 gen 2, mixed with 5 qts of dexos 1 gen 3 triple action. I typically purchase single qts by the case to...
Had an 04 Silverado that we finally traded for my wife’s car in 2021. I think it had 379,00 miles on the clock. Original engine and transmission. No issues with either. The rear end went out at 349,000, but I couldn’t complain.
wife’s traverse: Mobil 1 5w-30
Dad’s 2500hd Duramax: Mobil Delvac 1300 15w-40
Daughter’s Corolla: Mobil 1 HM 5w-30
My 2500HD 6.6l gas: QSFS 5w-30, but it’s getting harder to find. May be swapping to Mobil 1 once I’m out.
