New Castrol oil for the classics! "Castrol GTX Classic" 20W-50

Neat to see. I remember back in '87 running Castrol 10w30 in nearly an identical colored bottle in my mustang GT. At the time Castrol was considered something near exotic vs the normal pennzoil and the like.

    Oil Change Shops: Why

As others have said it's about the upsell and trying to get a few dollars more.

    Oil Change Shops: Why

It's an upsell from the dealers.

Oil in HOT climate and blending

So what is your point other than sniping from the sidelines as you have done to me and others previously? What is it that you're actually providing except entertaining yourself by tolling others who are on the subject matter that the original poster stated? I'm stating what I'm using for oil...

Dealer visit today: no oil brand or viscosity on invoice.

I bet it was bulk Crisco that they got from the restaurant across the way at the strip mall.

Oil in HOT climate and blending

I'm in Southern Nevada which is a bit hotter than Scottsdale. I'll typically run 5w30 in vehicles that come w 0w20 but can run 5w30 as an alternative. Good 5w30s tend to be more easily found at walmart and I feel more comfortable running a tad bit thicker oil for the hot temps as you described...

    Advanced Full Synthetic

Valvoline uses that label as their main synthetic line.

2AZ-FE - What is the best oil option?

That's a great engine known for its longevity. I would suggest 5w30 valvoline max life high mileage. A lot of good reports with it.

    Honda 2.0L oil choice

I'm a valvoline fan too so I know exactly what he was saying.

    Thicker oil or not????

I'd run the 5w30 without worry.

Oil rec to quiet high mileage Honda

I too recommend the valvoline maxlife in 5w30 flavor. They seem to have a pretty good reputation for quality oil and it may be exactly what you're honda is calling for.

What exactly is Mobil using here (RBR F1 oil)?

I'm just happy to see anyone except Mercedes at the front. Now that it just happens to be my favorite team doing it, well I'm more than thrilled.

    Valvoline Extended Performance 0W20 VOA

I picked up 2 of the 5qt bottles in 5w30 flavor. I'll be giving them a go in both of our vehicles for the next oil changes. I don't plan on exceeding our usual 5k mile change, but I do like the ingredients.

    5W30, 4k, Valvoline Extended Protection 06 Sentra

Looks like excellent oil. It's this report that had me purchase two 5qt bottles of it this past weekend. It'll be the first time in years I've used something other than Pennzoil Platinum

    2015 Fusion 2.0L Ecoboost, Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30, 5,072 miles

Looks good to me. It's why I've used pennzoil platinum for several years now.

    KIA Turbo oil

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Honda and VW but use 0w20 in their turbocharged engines without issue. Now maybe Kia engines are much more delicate or brittle requiring a 5w30 but I don't believe it. As for using thicker oil than initially specd I run 5w30 in my Mazda cx5 without issue. I'm...

Pennzoil Platinums disappearing from local Walmarts

Went to Walmart to pick up my order for the new Valvoline extended performance I ordered yesterday. Went inside and saw the normal usual amount of Pennzoil platinum available. It must be a local thing at your Walmart.

Oil recommendations for 2008 Honda Accord V6 3.5L

Personally I'd use either a 0w20 or a 5w30. Both would cover your needs without issue. In our Honda I ran 5w30 pennzoil Platinum without issue for years.

Decision Time, Would like some input from the forum

I've used both Mobil and Pennzoil without issues for many many years. I happen to like pennzoil better as it seemingly runs quieter smoother in my Mazdas. I would not be opposed or worried about using any of moden synthetics regardless of manufacturer though.

Since PYB is basically gone now..

Why not just stick with Pennzoil and use their black or platinum series of synthetics? They both do an amazing job in keeping internals clean and providing cooling and lubrication
