    I put FRAM 5w-40 in my 2022 6.7

I’d say that’s highly likely, at least the only reason I can think of where the viscosity would make a big difference. There’s plenty of farmers and fleets up here in Minnesota that’ll run the same oil in all their equipment. Or people that didn’t know about the lifter change or TSB and just run...

    I put FRAM 5w-40 in my 2022 6.7

Personally I'd run 5w-40 in it all year and sleep better at night. That's what we run in our new Ram field service trucks as well. We had a new tech start at our shop last week who came from a Ram dealer. We got into an oil discussion and he stated that all they used at that dealer was Rotella...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

Apologize for the late reply! It's been working great! Hesitation from a stop is still gone and shifting performance is definitely improved, which is really nice. I've only had it down to the single temps so far, but zero hesitation and smooth shifts at that temp as well with minimal warmup...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

I apologize for the late replies, didn't realize I had been "off the grid" for so long! You may have found out by this point which fluid to use. But long story short it was a lot of Googling, as correct info is a bit hard to nail down. Ended up on the ZF website and found a lot of great info...

    QS Euro 5W40 is back?

Just saw yesterday the Walmart I usually go to had about 10 jugs of this oil back on the shelves as well. Even though there is no more “spot” for them. Wonder if they’ll throw them back on clearance in a month again? *fingers crossed they do haha

Total Quartz at my local AAP (pics)

My local Indy Euro shop uses Total Energy 9000 and put it in everything they service. They put in the 5w-40 when they did the oil pan gasket on my X5 last year. Overall it seemed ok, but there were some reasons I didn't like it. It's definitely on the thick end of the scale and my engine just...

What are you working on today?

Finally got the chance to replace my cracked valve cover on the X5. Not a fun task to say the least. Changed out the plugs while I was there, according to service records they had about 60k on them. Valve train and head looked pretty clean overall, a few varnish spots. According to the service...

What is your shops HDEO bulk oil?

Our bulk is Valvoline premium blue one solution 15w-40. Nice not having to have separate oil for CNG’s. Our field service guys do service a bunch of different applications. So we do have pallets of pretty much every other Valvoline diesel oil made. We usually have some cases of Rotella T4...

Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

Just got 3 5qt jugs of Pennzoil 0w-40 for 2 oci's on the BMW, mainly due to the rebate. Also bought 6 Fleetguard LF16224 oil filters from work for the Hyundai. Can't really find any specs on them unfortunately. But for about $3 after employee discount, figure they'd be fine for 5k oci's.

M1 EP vs PP vs PUP 0w20

I'd vote Mobil 1 EP as well or Valvoline EP is also an excellent choice. Pennzoil is definitely a good oil and I still use it when I get a good deal on it. But my vehicles tend to use oil on that brand only. YMMV obviously, but that's been my experience on the last 4 vehicles I've tried it on.

    Rotella T6 turned into jelly

These pictures are from a school bus that came in in April I think for low oil pressure. They stated several times that the oil level was fine each time they checked it. We went to drain the oil and hardly anything came out. Turns out that the customer’s techs noticed the coolant loss, but had...

    Rotella T6 turned into jelly

I don’t have much experience with VW diesels. But I have seen a handful of Cummins engines come into our shop with this issue, both CNG and Diesel. So far the root cause has been coolant contamination from a blown head gasket each time. But what turned it into jelly was that the engines were ran...

    QS Euro 5W40 is back?

I still have 3 jugs left from the great QSUD Walmart clearance I picked up for $10 each. Agree that it's definitely the best bang for the buck for Euro oil at Walmart. So far I haven't used any oil in the last 3 OCI"s with it.

Stellantis 6.7L Cummins TSB: Only use 10W30 on 2019MY+, 15W40 can cause damage

Interesting, I haven't heard a peep about this at all. But, as far as I know, were aren't using any hydraulic valve lash adjusters on the commercial B6.7's either. So that's probably why. The Ram versions do have quite a few differences vs our commercial engines. Our commercial engine owner's...

Who uses Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic?

I use it in the wife’s Elantra, currently in there now, if I buy it on rebate. Overall seems like a good oil, good starts in winter. Only issue I’ve had with it is that it’s consistently the only brand that burns off in that car. About 1 quart over 5k miles. Tried 3 different viscosities, same...

Has anyone used an Elring valve cover?

Sounds like a quality product so I'll go with the Elring one, rather than paying double for probably the same thing. Thanks for all the input!!
