Motor hasn’t run in six 6 years

I would think a squirt of motor oil from an old-school oil can through the plug wells would be better than MMO, no? Thicker than MMO to produce ring seal and make the initial start-up quicker.

    Catalytic Converter Safe Oil?

I get that this is heavily veering away from your original question now, by why not a RAV4?

    Catalytic Converter Safe Oil?

Is there any other new vehicle that you'd consider besides another Equinox? Why go back for a second one when your current one has had an issue this severe? If I were you, I would do a Berryman's B12 piston soak and see if that frees the rings up enough to make a difference in the consumption...

What product to restore paint "moisture"?

If the paint is oxidized then a glaze isn't going to help. A glaze fills in small swirls and imperfections. If the paint is oxidized then you need a polish to cut down to clean paint again.

What product to restore paint "moisture"?

Would you be able to provide a photo of the paint's current condition? Might help us make a recommendation of how to proceed.

Castrol Edge 20,000 mile drain interval

The black bottle HM, yeah. I can post of a photo of it later, I still have the jug.

Castrol Edge 20,000 mile drain interval

I was at Walmart today and saw that GTX Full Synthetic (silver bottle) is back on the shelves after being absent for a long time. My Walmart has also had Castrol as an end-cap positioned product in the automotive department, and judging by how fast it moves, they seem to be knocking it out of...

Castrol Edge 20,000 mile drain interval

Interesting. I'm using Edge HM right now from a jug with the updated logo/label and it says 10,000 miles. This was purchased maybe four weeks ago, so it seems they've already revised the new labeling very quickly.

Using Flushing Oil in a Classic Engine?

You may find that the sludge being cleared away could expose some new leaks.

    Valvoline Synthetic Oil

This oil does nothing special. Literally it's a marketing exercise.

    Valvoline Restore/Protect Isn't Dexos Licensed.

I always felt this way when people lean on keeping oil receipts for proof during any type of warranty issue. Okay, so it shows you purchased oil. You could have used that oil in a different vehicle. You could have bought that oil and then let it sit on a shelf for a year and not actually changed...

Why not just run a Euro oil?

The cat failure has nothing to do with the HTHS. It's the full SAPS ad pack that's the concern.

Why is rotella hated by some?

Shell is actually totally British now, headquartered in London.

2023 tally of the "Post your latest oil change" thread

This may be too much to ask, but what if for the 2024 tally it was released with quarterly updates? Q1 is almost over. Would be interesting to see if there's been any movement in the order of popularity to start the year.

    Mobil 1 Marketing Material

I find the Mobil 1 marketing to be a bit apples-to-oranges. Take for instance their material here that advertises their superior low temperature performance. Instead of writing about how Mobil 1 is superior to Castrol Edge or Pennzoil Platinum, they instead throw out flashy facts like "reaches...

What oil and filter for 2017 5.3L Sierra?

It's hard to find a well made oil filter right now. I switched to Denso as their construction is still really nice (basically still made how other filters used to be). I'm not sure if Denso makes them in-house or if they're supplied by an outside company, but I really like them.

Use Valvoline Restore Protect in VW without VW 508.00 oil specification?

Restore & Protect is gimmick marketing and Mobil 1 is a totally solid product that there's no reason to switch away from.
