I would think a squirt of motor oil from an old-school oil can through the plug wells would be better than MMO, no? Thicker than MMO to produce ring seal and make the initial start-up quicker.

I get that this is heavily veering away from your original question now, by why not a RAV4?

Is there any other new vehicle that you'd consider besides another Equinox? Why go back for a second one when your current one has had an issue this severe? If I were you, I would do a Berryman's B12 piston soak and see if that frees the rings up enough to make a difference in the consumption...

If the paint is oxidized then a glaze isn't going to help. A glaze fills in small swirls and imperfections. If the paint is oxidized then you need a polish to cut down to clean paint again.

Would you be able to provide a photo of the paint's current condition? Might help us make a recommendation of how to proceed.

This oil does nothing special. Literally it's a marketing exercise.

It's hard to find a well made oil filter right now. I switched to Denso as their construction is still really nice (basically still made how other filters used to be). I'm not sure if Denso makes them in-house or if they're supplied by an outside company, but I really like them.

Restore & Protect is gimmick marketing and Mobil 1 is a totally solid product that there's no reason to switch away from.
