Is the recommended 0-20 bad for engine life?

No, if this is the manufacturer's recommendation, period. Boooooooring question, btw. A thousand times asked, twentythousand times answered. The actual question is: WHY does every forum member need another own thread for the ever same question? .

Long Term 5w-30 use in Honda 1.5t

. The least gas in the EU is 95 RON today (commonly called Super 95 E5 or E10). 91 RON 'Normal'? More than one decade ago, no longer available in the EU. .

PTFE lube for power mirror parts?

. Those parts typically don't require any lube. I'd leave them alone. .

2021 VW GLI - Track Day (Open Lapping) at TMP

You might consider to wrap them with 235/40 R18. Not actually beefy, but a tiny bit wider, a tad taller, a tad more robust compared to 225/40 R18 (if it's the same stock size as GTI). Don't expect better ride comfort though . . . (give heed to load rating 92 vs 95) .

2021 VW GLI - Track Day (Open Lapping) at TMP

Thanks for your reply, very helpful. Yes, it appears cost-efficient and without to deal with added noises. I'm going to fit 034 ball joints along with Bilstein B6 Damptronic (since my GTI sports DCC shocks). Raising roll center (depending on its extent/length) should be desirable in particular...

2021 VW GLI - Track Day (Open Lapping) at TMP

I'd love to hear your experience with these. Of course I get what -2°30' front camber will provide, however are they actually track-proof, say reliable? A failing ball joint would be really dangerous and these are a tad taller I presume (to raise roll center). .

BMW 3.0d 0/30 or 5/30 for best protection?.

I would do the same, see my sig. Many 5W are a tad stouter and come with lower Noack numbers compared to their 0W stablemates. You won't notice any fuel savings with 0W anyway. .

Early Oil Change on New VW EA888?

'Immeasurable feelings' to whom? To customers? Probably. To manufacturers? Definitely not. They know the difference, they know about manufacturing and break-in contaminants. The crucial problem: Manufacturers have no interest to share or, say, disclose their knowledge. Closed to the public...

    Civic FN2 oil choice

Agree. M1 ESP 5W-30 (BMW, VW, MB) or M1 ESP X3 0W-40 (VW 511 00, Porsche C40). Not 'consistently' but with Millers CFS oils. Fe and Cu numbers are fine, however IMHO Al is actually a reason for some concern. Apparently your K20Z4 loves Boron (1004 ppm?). Just 13 ppm Al instead of ~30...

    Oil Formulation and Stickiness Properties

No common (cheap) oil analysis will reveal the oil's composition. Stickiness, tackyness and lubricity, solubility. Not the same, but there's some correlation. Do a google search for 'aniline point'. I'd recommend using grease. It may keep where you put on. :ROFLMAO: .

    BMW 230i (B46) oil

Probably a reasonable idea. I'd go for BMW LL-04 and just run M1 ESP 5W-30 (or Ravenol REP 5W-30 instead but $$$ and near unobtanium in the US). .

    Catalytic Converter Safe Oil?

"a quart of oil every thousand miles and has done so for the last 120k miles" Don't you think you might have this flash of insight a tiny bit too late? Yes, 200k or at least 120k miles before running M1 ESP 5W-30 may perhaps have slowed this issue you suffer from. Now? Your cat is...

Mixing 0w30 with full synthetic safe?

Why not link them up? Same OP, same car, same issue. Sadly you won't fix anything with swapping oils, it never ever isn't any repair. .

Mixing 0w30 with full synthetic safe?

. You can, but why would want you to mix an approved (I assume) oil with some non-approved oil? Oil is cheap, you're engine isn't. .

Early Oil Change on New VW EA888?

I use to do early OCs (at ~300 mls, ~800 mls and ~2500 mls, then every 6000 mls) on every new car. I also use to use magnetic plugs on any engine and any transmission. The outcome: I had never ever noticed any metallic particles in the drain pan. If you have a completely different experience you...

    Switching to 5w30

You cannot discuss in former threads? Why? You can probably learn even much more from reading existing threads. Yes, there are LOTS. Cars, certs and oil change? Significantly compared to one or two weeks before? Actually? Your pistons and pistons rings are subject to 400°-500°C. So yes, your...
