    Oil Consumption-2010 RAV4-V6

I researched it. What I found was that it was indeed an issue with Rav's through 2009. I believe (and I could be mistaken) that the 2010-12's did not have that particular part. I've seen the part on some videos. It's partially metal on both ends with a rubber part in the middle....a terrible...

    Oil Consumption-2010 RAV4-V6

Thanks BAJA. I might just do that. It's kind of like an experiment. I would love to get feedback from anyone who might have had a similar experience. I may try the Redline but it seems like the Valvoline Extended Protection is consuming less than the Mobil-1. Again, this is not a knock...

    Oil Consumption-2010 RAV4-V6

Yep. Im at a half quarte top off at the 3k mark. I'm curious to see how much more I will need by the time I get to the 5k mark. I'll tell you another thing that I'm considering...Im thinking about going to a 5w-30 conventional with a 3,000 mile oil change interval. I hate to do it because I...

So glad I found this board. I can tell that there is quite a bit of knowledge and experience here. I honestly don't know where this rabbit hole might lead, but y'all are giving me some great insight. I hate buying vehicles. I'm one that would prefer to buy a quality used one and attempt to drive...

    Oil Consumption-2010 RAV4-V6

Ok. I loved the video...I will likely watch it again for anything that I may have missed. Thanks for sharing. However, I have the service records from the previous owner. He was doing his oil changes every 5,000 miles.

    Oil Consumption-2010 RAV4-V6

Agree. It's not a ton of money to go synthetic. I'm willing to keep doing it but I do want to figure out the real issue. If it were the difference between buying a Carolla or the new 3.0 Liter Supra then yea, I'd only consider conventional.

    Oil Consumption-2010 RAV4-V6

Kuato-Just curious,, does your 2015 4Runner use a spin on canister filter or a cartridge insert? My 4Runner is a 2008. I've been using the Mobil 1 extended performance filter but I'm considering switching to either the Fram Ultra Synthetic or the Purolator Boss. Not sure about the Fram because I...

Thanks for the heads up on the plugs. I used Castrol high mileage in a Nissan truck for years with no issues. It wasn't the synthetic though...Will look into edge

    Oil Consumption-2010 RAV4-V6

Yea, I'm thinking it's probably more than an oil brand thing as well. It may be an oil "weight" issue but Toyota calls for 5w-30 and that's what we use. There's got to be a tangible explanation. It's just a matter of figuring it out. My guess is that it's going to be something mechanical. Thanks...

    Oil Consumption-2010 RAV4-V6

Hi-I am new to this board.. I have some oil questions. I apologize up-front for being so verbose. I purchased my wife's 2010 V6 Rav about 2 years ago. with about 65k miles. It was dealer serviced by the only previously owner.. Our oil change intervals have always been every 5,,000 miles. We run...
