    2020 Silverado 1500 4WD 4.3L Custom. Second oil change, 10K miles on the truck. First change was about 3500 miles (not based on oil life monitoring system). Out: SuperTech 5W-30 Full Synthetic and PF63E ACDelco filter. In: Valvoline Advanced 5W-30 full synthetic with Fram XG10575.

    Yeah, I poorly was trying to say that removal of the metal made room for more pleats, not that it was the reason they did it. I can imagine taking just the metal and shaping it into pleats without filter media would take up quite a bit of space now used for more media or different media.

    PF63 or PF63E New 2021 Chevy Silverado 5.3

    I thought the PF63 and PF63E had different bypass pressure ratings, with the PF63 around 15 and PF63E around 22. If that's still the case, my 4.3 Silverado calls for the PF63E and I wouldn't use a PF63 instead to avoid bypass events and lower differential pressures.
