I was stopped in traffic when I was hit from behind.Besides myself there were three other cars involved.Since I was at the front of all this I was the only one who did not have to...

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE OIL FOR YOUR OWN VEHICLE(S)

I use Amsoil in my cars, trucks, motorcycles, boat and lawn mower. I use the filters too. I do this because I am basicly lazy and I take advantage of the long drain intervals. The increase in gas mileage is a plus.

    Anti-seize On Lugnuts?

I have always put anti-seize on the lugnuts of every vehicle or trailer that I have ever owned for the last 35 years. I put it on the threads and the base of the nut where it contacts the wheel, then torque to factory spec. I have never ever had one come loose. Very easy to remove nuts.

    How bad is Dex-Cool really?

On my 96 GMC 4.3 I had to have the cooling system power flushed at 38,000 miles. This was not covered by the extended warranty because it was "corrosion".At 147,000 the LM gaskets failed. When I took it apart the Dexcool had turned almost plastic like where it started to leak.I replaced it with...

ATF advice, 2001 buick regal LS

The amsoil ATF works great. I use it in 4 of my GM vehicles. Be fore I switched from the stock fluid, I could feel some slipping when towing on a steep incline with one of my trucks. After I changed no more slipping. This is on a road that I have driven on for 30 years.

    Water spots

My neighbors new sprinklers covered one side of my truck with hard water spots. I tried the stuff that I use on my boat to remove spots, but it doesn't seem to work on paint. What should I use to remove these nasty spots?

    6.4 Ford sludge

Regardless of oil brand, change interval, etc. This boils down to a defect in this particular 6.4 motor. Maybe if UOAs were done every 5000 mi. They may have shown a trend toward coolant contamination. What if they didn't. What if a defective gasket let go 500 miles ago? This is clearly a defect...

Do GM dealers intake gasket fixes work?

I replaced the gaskets in my Gmc 4.3 with the new felpro ones about two years ago. So far so good. My dealer wanted $1500.00, so I ended up doing it myself for $80.00in parts. The original gaskets were totally desintigrated. The dexcool had partially plugged up one of the coolant passages in the...

    I like Amsoil P.I.

This stuff works great. it worked really well in my 96 GMC 4.3 with 157,000 mi. After about 3/4 of a tank had run through it I was at a stoplight, and I thought the thing had quit on me. Luckily I looked at the tach before I tried to restart it. The thing hasn't idled this smooth in a long time.

Questions on diff/trans for 2007 Tahoe

None of my GM trucks have a drain plug on the rear diff. Put a pan under it and loosen all the bolts. Pull the cover away and the fluid will drain into the pan. When finished draining remove the bolts and clean cover, bolts etc. Some people like to use silicone to make their own gasket. I prefer a...

    fram filter price

I know, I just had to be a wise guy. I agree with you. I am so tired of seeing things with the big HD logo marked "made in( insert third world country of your choice)" A wix filter should be a good replacement and not to expensive. K&N are good but costly also. I usually bite the bullet and go...

Why no M1 High mileage 5-30?

As long as your Ford is not burning oil all of a sudden, I would stick with what you are using now. I have a GMC that has 147,000 miles on it and I still use the same weight 5w 30 Amsoil that I have always used. It hasn't increased consumption, so I still use it. I think " High Mileage" is just...
