Changing oil makes engine burn it faster?

I will switch to a 10w-40 oil to see if I lose it at the same rate as before. My transmission gears are long/tall so that maybe why?

Changing oil makes engine burn it faster?

My engine was never rebuilt, the old one was taken out and a new entire engine was put in the year 2006. It's a stage 3 racing block, with a crank scraper included. I will change to a heavier weight oil soon, either a 10w30 or 10w40 and if I experience the same type of oil loss then I will do a...

Changing oil makes engine burn it faster?

I have thought about it, however I still have the stock trans from the factory, it was tuned by the previous owner and can hold all the power and torque pretty well. The highest temperature I've seen was 182 degrees fahrenheit after changing the oil and filter in the trans and doing a flush also.

Changing oil makes engine burn it faster?

Yeah the scanner is an old model from 2011, it was gifted by my neighbour before he passed away so that's the only scanner I have. I did some googling and the 3100 series scanners does not have the live data option. I can get my car scanned again for free by the previous owner of my car, he has...

Changing oil makes engine burn it faster?

I just hooked up my scanner to my car but I'm unable to get any readings because the way my scanner works is if a trouble code is present then I can access more information like fuel trims, etc. I don't have any codes stored on the computer, therefore no information. The only information I can...

Changing oil makes engine burn it faster?

Okay I will. I don't have the hptuners program or a laptop but I have a scan tool than can measure fuel trims, etc. I'll see if I can get any readings from it.

Okay, would it still be advisable to do a compression and leak down test in the spring time?

Changing oil makes engine burn it faster?

I see. Like in my case running a 5w-30 oil was too thin and I guess got worn out over the years? I did not receive any special instructions when buying the car other than the previous owner telling me that when filling the oil I shouldn't fill it up to the fill mark on the dipstick because it...

Would having no crosshatch just mean that it's just from normal wear and tear from high mileage on my engine?

Changing oil makes engine burn it faster?

Thanks for the link but I try to refrain from any quick fixes. I'd rather fix the actual problem on a long term basis rather than a short one, that's just me though

Changing oil makes engine burn it faster?

I agree, also high gear is a very tall gear in my transmission which would put more strain on my engine and with all the mods my car is heavier than the stock weight. I've been trying to get the % grade of the hills that I go up on but I'm unable to get any information on it. the only...
