    1st Run of M1 EP HM 0w20 - '17 Pacifica

2017 Pacifica 3.6L Pentastar ~104,000 miles currently Brief history: I have used PP0w20 at OLM intervals (approx 10k) since we got it at around 40/45k. Past life was a rental iirc. Over the last several oil changes, It would use 1qt/5000 miles Don't remember exactly why I made the change. I...

Sump Pump in Basement Window Well

Over the last several years (first significant occurrence with during a hurricane in August 2020) the window wells for the small half windows in my basement have been filling up with very heavy rain or several days of moderate rain. Now that I know about it, I've been keeping an eye on it and...

2019 Ram 1500 Reset Drive Hours AGAIN!

Just a vent session.... Fired up the truck this morning and the dumb thing reset the drive hour meter to zero again! It last did it early July 2022. No indication either time it would happen. Just did it. Last time it did it, I called the dealer and asked about possible warranty repair and...

Fram Endurance FE10060 Cut Open - 9709 miles - HPL PCEO

This is from a whole interval, I meant to do a mid-interval filter change but a vacation got in the way and after I thought about it some more, the two filters from the last interval did not show anything concerning, so I stuck it out to the full interval. This is the 2nd interval with HPL PCEO...

    HPL Euro 5w30

This is their Euro 5w30, VW 504/507, Porsche C30, ACEA C3, API SN, BMW LL-04, MB 229.51 offering. The lab has this labeled wrong, the first time they had it listed as supposed to be a 5w20 even though I clearly labeled everything. I was a little surprised at the moly, but I don't know what's...

    2019 Ram 1500 Classic 5.7L - HPL PCEO 5w20 - 9709 miles

History: I've owned this truck since 8848 miles in June 2020. I've followed the OLM it's entire life, except for scheduling issues. This interval had the OLM at 5%. Commute is 80% highway. Almost all family driving is in this truck as well on evenings and weekends. In went HPL Euro and a Fram...

    2025 Ram 1500

Not sure when it was announced. Dropping the Hemi for 2025 in favor of the two variants of the Hurricane, both with more horsepower and torque than the current Hemi is rated. Coming 2024 Q1 https://www.ramtrucks.com/2025/ram-1500.html#overview

    ZF 8HP Transmission Fluid

The amount of effort that I've put into this shows just how much I do not want to change this fluid myself. For reference, the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic 5.7L has an exhaust crossover pipe that goes right underneath of the transmission pan and is exactly underneath the drain plug for the pan. I'm...

HPL OCI and kit; Getting a little more serious now...

I've got 4 kits ready for the next HPL OCI. Not trying to push the current HPL PCMO past 10k. Next HPL OCI is looking to be No VII Euro 5w30. I could be swayed to 0w30 SuperCar, but we don't really need the 0w rating here in MD.

5.7 Hemi Owners - Oil Grade Poll

Curious what everyone is using in their 5.7s. Multiple responses allowed to try to capture vehicle year. Charger, Ram, 300, GC, etc, etc, doesn't matter. Trying to keep it isolated to the 5.7 as I don't know what differences (if any) exist between the 5.7 and the 6.1/6.4. Discuss as you wish...

    2019 Ram 5.7 HPL Choice

I have 1000 miles on my current fill of HPL PCMO 5w20 ("base model"), so I have 9000 miles to figure out what's next. I've made the decision to step up to a xW30 oil. We don't get cold enough here to require 0w but I'm not opposed to it. I'm looking at every offering that is on the Advanced...

    How close is too close?

On my Ram 5.7 I’m able to fit the larger (PH2 size) filter. I can wedge it in there and it will spin on tight. However, it’s really close to two hard lines. I didn’t measure but it looked like only a couple millimeters. When using an oversized filter, is there such a thing as the filter being...

Amsoil EA15K50 Cut Open 5511miles - HPL PCMO

This is from the second half of my first 10,000 miles with HPL PCMO 5w20 Filter in use 5511 miles. Not as many pics as my last filter, the general construction looked fine. Wrapped with paper towels for 3 days (changed towels each day) Strained remaining oil from the can through a coffee...

ZF Lifeguard 8 vs Lifeguard 9

This thread shares that LF 8 and 9 are interchangeable. Since LG8 and 9 are interchangeable for the 8HP70, which would be preferred? Or just default back to https://aftermarket.zf.com/remotemedia/lol-lubricants/lol-en/lol-te-ml-11-en.pdf that states all 8HP70s take LG8? There's a $55 total...

Amsoil EA15K50 Cut Open 4636 miles - HPL PCMO

First run of HPL Oil changed at 56,305 miles Filter changed at 60941 miles I strained the oil left in the can through a coffee filter. Filter element is currently wrapped with a second wrapping paper towels. Found a couple interesting pieces. They're pretty hard and tricky to get a picture of.

2012 VW Beetle 2.5L Oil Weight

Just picked up a 2012 Beetle 2.5/6AT with 82500 miles. I've read this is a pretty straight forward engine. Book states to use a 502 or 504 oil. It's had a pretty steady diet of Castrol Edge 5w40 from a VW dealer with some PP sprinkled in. I have a pretty solid service history from the past...

2012 Beetle Analog vs Digital Speedometer Diagreement

We picked up a 2012 Beetle yesterday and something that we didn't notice in any of the driving was that the analog and digital speedometer do not agree. The digital is correct, so I'm sure the system is working correctly in that regard. However, the analog is always 8mph slow. It's not a...

    2019 Ram Brakes

2019 Ram 1500 Classic (DS Body), 5.7L, 4WD I think I'm going to be needing brakes in the next 10-15,000 miles. Need to monitor more, I'll be pulling a front tire off this weekend since it's filter change time. I saw something about ceramic pads not being the best for a truck. On past vehicles...

    Handheld Camera Suggestions

Looking for a camera for work. We have a decent budget, I think I could do $1000, but personally I'd like to be in the $500 area. This will be used for photos and videos for creating digital and printable work instructions. Needs Must be easy to use Microphone input (it will be used in a...

    Ram 5.7 PCV Replacement

The manual lists this as a 100k mile replacement. Looks pretty simple but is pricey for a PCV imo. Any reason to change it early on this engine? No consumption issues, no sudden drop in fuel economy, etc.
