Amsoil product to use as jack oil? Maybe ATH?

Thank you for the info MolaKule :-) Some of my bottle jacks are the cheap Chinese ones, I haven't tried changing the oil in those yet. I will savor my last bottle of the SF HJO!

Low oil pressure caused by oil filter?

Sorry I mistyped that, meant to say 'There is one in the oil pump but not to bypass the filter, just to limit the pump output pressure'. The non-turbo Subaru's relief is at about 72psig, the turbos are around 100psig.

Low oil pressure caused by oil filter?

I still have the filter, so I can shoot a pic of it. Now this filter, however, is not the part # they suggest for Subaru. Right, Subaru's don't have a bypass in the block. There is one in the oil filter but not to bypass the filter, just to limit the pump output pressure.

    Bolt Size For Drum Removal

That's what Subaru's used for the rear drums too. Their rotors had holes for them too. I found the bolts were good for one use, it really trashed up the threads on them, but I was using cheap hardware.

Amsoil Assembly Lube as Ratchet Lube?

I have been cleaning mine out and putting Neo HP800 grease in there. It seems a tad thick maybe, but the ratchets are then super super smooth and quiet.

Amsoil Assembly Lube as Ratchet Lube?

I've seen that many people like to use engine assembly lube for ratchets. I was wondering if anyone has tried the new Amsoil assembly lube for this application?

    Suggestions for garage heater

The propane or other ventless heaters can be OK, as long as you don't mind the extra moisture being dumped into the garage. I stopped using mine because I could see the condensation on all my tools after running it. In the upstairs there is a metal roof, sheesh the thing was soaking wet after...

    Chlorinated paraffins in additives

I think Duralube was one of the original additives to contain chlorinated paraffins. I believe they are very popular in metal working fluids, but it doesn't appear they are a good idea to use in an engine's oil.

Amsoil product to use as jack oil? Maybe ATH?

Thank you for the info MolaKule! Ah the air over hydraulic jack in question has been running your fine Specialty Formulations synthetic air tool oil for many years..... I still have one bottle I never opened but it might be past its shelf life at this point. Thank you.

Why wouldn't you buy wiper blades online?

I've been really liking the Valeo wipers. If I remember to swab them with alcohol+silicone from time to time I can get about two years out of them before they start to leave streaks. Amazon has them but usually I get 4-6 at a time so tirerack comes out lower in price. Hm....I didn't know...

    steering wheel sqeaks when turned

Sometimes that sound is the clockspring. I was thinking the sound like when George wore those polyester pants to his interview.

Amsoil product to use as jack oil? Maybe ATH?

Is there an Amsoil product suitable for use as hydraulic jack oil? I have an air over hydraulic and a few bottle jacks. I was thinking maybe AMSOIL Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil (ATH)?

Low oil pressure caused by oil filter?

So far the new filter I installed is not having the low pressure issue. So I was a bit hasty to complain the oil filter was faulty. It actually did a good job of catching whatever that junk was that clogged it up so fast. Still a bit confused on the bypass though, this filter had no bypass, and...

Low oil pressure caused by oil filter?

Thanks for the info. So I cut the filter open (Amsoil eao36 [not eao34 I had the wrong #]) this evening to see what was going on in there. What I found was the media slightly collapsed, but not overly so. There was some amount of a sludge like slightly gritty black material over most of the...

Low oil pressure caused by oil filter?

Hm that's interesting. I wonder what it is about the filter that can cause it? I had the oil pump off while doing the timing belt. I noticed on the first startup, the pressure did climb to around 65psi which I was happy with, but that was it. After that it never went above 25psi again until I...

Low oil pressure caused by oil filter?

So I noticed the oil pressure gauge on my '94 Subaru Legacy seemed to be reading low. After I replaced the oil filter, the problem went away. It was taking about four seconds after startup for the oil pressure light to go off, then the oil pressure would very slowly rise. But it would never go...

    2004 subaru forester maintience help

Yes, that vehicle would have the 4EAT phase II, which does have the spin on external filter. Subaru originally said it didn't need replacing, but it kind of makes sense to replace it at some point. It is in a brilliant location to catch shreddings and junk coming out before they get a chance to...

    2004 subaru forester maintience help

I run the Amsoil ATF in all my Subaru's (but none did specify the HP-ATF, mine are far too old to need that). The next major maintenance will likely be the timing belt, tensioner, idlers, water pump, valve clearance, etc at 105k miles/105 months. The Subaru head gasket issues should be pretty...

Subaru Forrester 03 - Lots of noise on start up

Subaru stopped with hydraulic lifters after 1996. Sometimes if the valve clearance was not checked/adjusted properly after a head gasket job there can be miscellaneous ticking.
