    Carquest 85085 cut open

I bought the filter a while back, before AAP had the new Fram filters. Is this Carquest premium, basically a Fram ultra? I drank the Koolaid, and just put on a Fram ultra, for next oci.

    Carquest 85085 cut open

Did an oil change on my 07 Ram 4.7L. OCI was 1 year and About 4,300 miles. I used a Carquest filter (thought they were made by purolator). I wanted to check for tears myself. No tearing, but it also doesn't look like a purolator. Is it a Wix? Filter and ADBV look good. I would use this filter...

    ST16 vs L14670

Thanks guys. I was planning on trying a Wix next time (actually using it before cutting open, since they cost more). I just saw a post, Wix are starting to be made in mexico. I will have to see (what is made where?) In a couple months.

    New ST16 cut open

Yes, but the filter material on Ecore was more substantial, almost like felt. This filter looks like pretty thin paper. I know... $3

    New ST16 cut open

I have not seen metal ends with a plastic center tube. New level of cheap. I would prefer an Ecore to this. Thanks, I will check out the 8's.

    New ST16 cut open

I have an '07 Ram, 4.7L, work truck. Lots of short trips, so I do 3-5000 mile OCI's. I like to use, made in the USA, oil filters. Over the years I've mainly used Carquest basic and STP-S16 filters. I saw a recent post that Carquest filters are made in China now. I was at Autozone and noticed...
