    5.3 with a 4L80E?

I have a 5.3 with 4l80e Clinebarger helped me build it , theres a thread here somewhere he walked me through it. It does what I want mostly tire chirps and rolling burnouts It is heavy, will take about 3-4 maybe 5mpg off your highway cruise from a 4l60e. But its easy to work on because all...

Oil Catch Can On A 2021 Kia Niro

Do not use a catch can, extra hoses is extra friction and deleterious to crankcase pressure signal. Extra volume is added capacitance which creates a delay in crankcase pressure recovery during transitioning between idle/cruise and WOT situations. Combustion byproducts are gasses which cannot...

    Unhappy Customer

My favorite part of auto mechanics is taking stuff from a car into the parts store and having them tell you its still good. I eventually stopped believing that parts can actually go bad. When something fails, I start looking all around, anywhere other than the part that isn't working for the...

Luckily The OEM IRS 240sx suspension is intended for a much heavier car, it is the same differential VLSD used in an Infinty Q45 for example (V8 'luxury' style car). The chassis is actually called a Silvia in Japan and they are all slightly over-engineered with respect to suspension because both...

A 4l60e or anything in that rotating weight range, is truly ideal for my car. The little Nissan is very light, and I don't use any Tbrake. But I do not have the skills, space, or patience (even with GREAT help) to attempt a one-off 4l6xe rebuild, I wish. I will in the future if ever reach an...

Finally got a chance to bolt up the converter, put in driveshaft, and Drove it for the first time last night! What a rush. No leaks no strange noises, good. Shifts feel realllyyy good. I went .095" 2nd, .105" 3rd, and .125" 4th. Has a really nice 'spring' to it now, shifts feeling positive, it...

thanks for all the help. My yolk didnt have any hole in the end. It also doesn't have a place for any seal. I did however seat the seal inside the little "cover" and the yolk went into it, with some pressure. But in the end I just removed the seal and put the "shell" metal piece back on like I...

Are you saying my Driveshaft YOKE (the metal tube) has an end plug inside the end part of it? I am unfamiliar with this, so I am not sure where to look. Next, there is an O-ring on the outside of the sleeve, but you are saying that there is ALSO a seal on the INSIDE of the sleeve? I will have...

What do you mean by old one? Are you referring to the picture where I am showing the original OD roller clutch next to the brand new unit in the box? If so yes I put the new one in before I assembled it. However your words could be taken another way. You could mean "OLD MODEL" Like I used the...

Another question, I just remembered, There is this weird silver cap shield thing that goes onto the output shaft, inside the extension housing. It has a seal on it also. I can get a picture of it if necessary. But I was wondering, what it is, what it does, do I need it? I had to knock it off...

Nevermind , I think my hand was just raw and sore and full of cuts from turning the parts so many times. I let it rest a few hours and came back and it seems normal now. I put the rest of assemblies in tonight and about to put pump in and move on to the valve body. I am having a bit of trouble...

That worked! I was able to finally measure endplay with the original thrust washer/selective. I got .019-.022" I put the bearing back into the case with .021" Shim And the endplay measured around .010" - .011" So I took that shim out and put in the .010" + .019 shim and now my end play is .003...

4L80E Rebuild questions (that have not been covered)!

So just to be clear. the output shaft thrust surface should be able to touch the bushing, it should go all the way down into the case. Ill check the output shaft for marks. Ill play with the original selective and see how it feels. Would you be able to tell me how the bearing should behave...

Should I sand the output shaft? How do I get an end play? If it spins fine, turns the bearing, but has no up and down movement, can I just run it like that?

Here is a better picture with just the output shaft installed, NO BEARING, You can see the output shaft stops way before it can reach the bushing. Something else stops the shaft from getting to the bottom of the case. this could be totally normal. I assume it is. So I simply installed the...
