I would recommend Valvoline Maxlife for your 2.4 L engine in the Dodge. I use Maxlife 10W30 in a 2003 PT Cruiser with the same engine and run it to 6000 miles. Check out my UOA for the PT cruiser. It was much better than I ever expected. Good Luck.

Hey Rob, What kind of car and engine does it have that is giving you start up noise and what weight of Havoline you went to. I have a 2000 Infiniti G20 that has made startup noise since 5000 miles and am still not completely satisfied with any oil and filter that I have used.

I plan to keep the interval at 6000 miles for now because that is the maximum recommended change interval. I am really satisfied with 1/2 quart in 6000 miles coupled with the very low wear, high remaining TBN, and this oil did not shear down. I won't be using any other additives.
