    wheel bearing/hub stuck in spindle

If all else fails, remove brake caliper and rotor. Separate steering nuckle from tie rod end, lower ball joint, and strut. Pry axle shaft from transaxle and take entire assembly to a shop with a hydralic press to press out axle shaft from steering nuckle and bearing.

Suggestions on oil and filter 2000 Infiniti G20?

Hi Emory, I have the same car. Bought it new and now have 120,000 miles on it. The transmission has a screen so a filter kit is not needed and the screen cannot be replaced without partial trans disassembly. Simply drain it and refil with Dextron III. Buy 5 quarts just in case. Do this every...

    Alignment

It sounds like you have worn tie rod ends. You should have it inspected and repaired as soon as possible.

    Pennzoil High Mileage 5w-30 SL

Well it looks like we found the Penzoil motor oil that causes sludge. Are you sure this was not some Penzoil SB 30 weight motor oil from 1965. It is really hard to believe that the #1 seller of motor oil in USA would make a mistake like this. It has always been my opinion to never trust the...

    Castrol Start Up: Snake oil?

In my opinion Castrol Startup is snake oil. I tried it in my car that has a history of timing chain/valve rattle or rod knock at startup. The 10W40 Castrol startup was no better at reducing startup noise than 5W30 pcmo. Even tried it with 2 diffeent oil filters, Beck/arney and STP. Drained it...

Chrysler (Dodge) 2.4L DOHC oil and filter

I would recommend Valvoline Maxlife for your 2.4 L engine in the Dodge. I use Maxlife 10W30 in a 2003 PT Cruiser with the same engine and run it to 6000 miles. Check out my UOA for the PT cruiser. It was much better than I ever expected. Good Luck.

    Oil sludge

Hi LARRYL, What type of oil was your neighbor using in his Durango? Did he really change the oil every 3000 miles? Thanks

    Rislone vs Mobil1

I have a 93 Nissan p/u with the 2.4 engine. I use dino and always run 4000 to 5000 mile oil changes. Occasionally after an oil and filter change I would get a hydralic valve lifter ticking. When this happens I add about 8 ounces of Rislone from the yellow quart bottle. One drive to work and back...

Switched from Mobil 1 to Havoline Convential

Hey Rob, What kind of car and engine does it have that is giving you start up noise and what weight of Havoline you went to. I have a 2000 Infiniti G20 that has made startup noise since 5000 miles and am still not completely satisfied with any oil and filter that I have used.

Valv Max Life 10W30, 5924 mi.,2003 PT Cruiser

I plan to keep the interval at 6000 miles for now because that is the maximum recommended change interval. I am really satisfied with 1/2 quart in 6000 miles coupled with the very low wear, high remaining TBN, and this oil did not shear down. I won't be using any other additives.

Valv Max Life 10W30, 5924 mi.,2003 PT Cruiser

Here is my analysis on my 2003 PT Cruiser with 2.4 non turbo dohc engine. This was second interval with Valvoline Max Life 10W30 and Pure One oil filter. First is my sample, second is universal averages. Aluminum 2 4 Chromium 0 1 iron 5 19 Copper 1 7 Lead 0 2 Tin 0 1 Moly 2 15 Nickel 0 0...

Honda guys - timing belt advice please

I changed the timing belt on a 95 Accord last year. It had a manual transmission. I had to have a friend jam the flywheel with a pry bar. I placed a floor jack under the engine oil pan to keep the engine from rotating on its mounts. I used a 17 mm 6 point impact socket, 1/2 inch drive flex...

    Need help on Stuck Pistons

Before you use the Auto-RX you could just run the Mobil DC until it is a quart low and then change out the oil only for a high mileage oil. I am partial to Valvoline Max Life and have personally had very good results with it. A second option would be to just add 1/2 or 1 quart of a high mileage...

    Lifter Tickage! grrrr

I would add at least 8 ounces of Rislone, drive for 500 miles and change the oil and filter. If you still have a tick, then it is a mechanical problem that cannot be fixed by an oil additive. The rislone has always worked for me to stop lifter ticking. Your problem may not be too difficult to...

    Quaker State High Mileage Oil

I noticed this also and the fact that it was an SJ rated made me choose the QS High Mileage 10W40 to try in my car. I have posted my oil report in the used oil section and was suprised to find the Phosphorus level at 686 and the Zinc at 831. Apparently QS does not know what they put in the...

    2000 Infiniti G20, 4905 miles, QS HM 10W40

Blackstone again commented on the lead level and the fact that I had 1.8% fuel this time. The car had not been driven too much before I changed the oil. My search has been to find an oil that eliminated the start up noise with this engine. This car has the Nissan 2.0 litre DOHC all aluminum with...

    Shell 20W50, 1992 Cadillac, 4,820 miles

I lost my post the first time so I decided to break it up. Blackstone said: oil sheared out of grade. Wear was perfect. Evidence of antifreeze in oil. Additives were depleated. This report was better than expected. This engine is throwing off less wear metals that either my Infinity or Nissan...
